    Help!New dish!!

I just installed a Fortec 36" dish with an invacom quad lnbf.I have it connected to a Viewsat Ultra Lite receiver. My signal strength reads 80 and quality is 100%.When I go into antenna setup,it's telling me I am pointed at Echo Star 7.When I change the sat listed it loses all strength & quality. When I do the auto channel scan,it downloads all the dish network channels. When I exit out and go to see what is showing on the channels,i get the bar on the bottom of the screen saying I am looking at 110 w.Where have I gone wrong here??LOL!Ay assistance would be great.......

    Thx!Next question?

My lat is 43.3 &long is -85.7.Iam using all sadoun equipment, but the receiver which is the viewsat ultra lite. The dish is a fortec 36".The lnbf is an invacom quad.I am using one rg6 coax. The programing on the tv says I am on sat 110 west even though under the antenna setup I selected e--star 9.That is where I am getting the strongest signal & quality. Why is setup showing this under Sat 9,when It is really looking at 110 west? How do I find 97 west from this point??

    these receivers are really "stupid".
They do not know what satellite they are pointing at.

You could set the reciever to 79W and point it at 97w, and assuming there is a transponder active (think of transponders like channel numbers on a TV) you will see some signal indication.

    Here's the deal:

    1) Use USALS as the positioning methods in the receivers setup
    2) enter in your coordinates in the receivers settings (43 and 86)
    3) have the motor drive to "reference" - it should be in the center spot.
    4. Set the motor bracket to your latitude number (43) and leave it there.
    5) set the dish to your calculated elevation based on dish and motor type.
    6) point the whole contraption side to side on the pole to your magnitcally corrected south heading. My guess for you it's about 190 degrees on a compass. Use the online heading calculator to find out that number. Its on the Sadoun website.
    7) find the closes satellite to your south number (which for you is 86..) the closest sat is 87w. Have USALS drive the motor to that satellite. The motor will NOT move very much. If it does, somethings wrong.
    8. Put the reciever on an active transponder on 87w.
    11736 V 8333 or 11716 H 4859
8a - bring a TV set and your reciever out to where the dish is.
    9. Very slowly, adjust the DISH elevation up or down, within 5 degrees of calculated value. You might need to move the motor side to side on the pole a hair.
    10) be very delicate with this adjustment. The satellite is easy to miss. The signal spot is very small. Just putting your hand on the dish and bending it a bit can lose the sateliite signal, it's that touchy.
    11) once you find that sat, tighten things down.
    12) now you can drive the motor to another sat, like 97w. See if it finds some signals/channels with a scan. You might have to do a lot of fine tuning.

Once you get past the frustration of initially finding the signals, and see how it works you'll say why the hell was this so hard???
