Question about Fortec Dynamic FTA Receiver

I purchased the Fortec Star Dynamic FTA receiver from Sadoun Satellite around the end of June this year. I also have a Fortec Star 80 cm dish. The receiver works great and I was able to program most of the American Arc satellites flawlessly.

There are two questions and problems that I am encountering.

The first problem is that I cannot delete a satellite. When I go to delete a satellite and I press "OK", nothing happens. I have even reset the receiver and that didn't work. I read something on the Sadoun Satellite forum that this particular receiver may require a software upgrade in which this particular problem has not been addressed yet. Has anyone owning this brand of receiver encountered this problem and approached anyone at Fortec Star regarding a potential software bug in this brand receiver?

Also, when I previously used my Fortec Star dish with another brand Traxis 3500 FTA receiver, I used to receive 2 atlantic satellites beamed to North America. I reside in the Northeast part of the United States. The two satellites are Telstar 12 and Intelsat 3R. Now that I'm using the Fortec Star Dynamic FTA receiver, I cannot receive these two satellites. I've tried everything from keying in the proper frequencies, symbol rates, etc. to using power scan a number of times. I know that I'm on the satellite because my signals are strong. Is there anything that I'm overlooking? Please help with this issue by offering some suggestions. All the other American satellites come in great!

I do have a 1 year warranty and I would like to address this "delete satellite" problem while my receiver is still under warranty if by chance it happens to be a factory defect. Hopefully, it is only a software bug. Please offer as much information regarding this problem if anyone on the forum has run into this problem with this brand receiver.

    Thanks

There does not apprear to be anything wrong with the software on the Dynamic so far. When deleting you must select "YES" to confirm or it will not delete. The default will always save you from deleting. See page 22-23 in the manual. Make sure you have selected the proper satellite you wish to delete by scrolling across. You can check by going to antenna set up and hitting OK when you have the satellite highlighted, that will give you the entire list in order to see if it is indeed deleted.

    Fortec Star

    Cband guy,

Glad to hear someone is experiencing the same problems as me. I have 3 Fortec Star Dynamic Receivers, and have not been able to delete a satellite from any of them. True, you go through all the motions, but the satellite never gets deleted.

Also, I have not been able to get my dish motor to point at Telestar 15W either. Have been in contact with Fortec about this. It seems that the motor will not turn at this setting. It will work at 22W, 24.5W, and up, but not at 15W. The screen will say "Moving to Satellite Position" but if you go and look at the dish, it will not turn. What I had to do in this case is for Telestar at 15W, switch the receiver to DiSeQC, then go out with a sat meter, TV set, and receiver and press the buttons on the motor until I can find Telestar at 15W. Once I got it, then I save it using the DiSeQC option. This usually works, but it's a pain. It would be a lot easier if the system would work at 15W.

Not sure where the problem lies, it could be many things, but since Telestar has such great programming I have gone to these lengths to work around the system. Good luck, try my method, see if it helps.
