    mercury II no blind scan....

    wierd...

Have enjoyed this setup for a long time. Blind scan, log feeds, watch ect...now it dont scan (or find anythign). 90cm dish. Example: on IA5 (97') i had 123 channels, i deleted all except one, have signal 73' and qual 62'...blind scan does NOT pickup anything..maybe 1tp will show up then show off while scanning. Very wierd...

Same thing happend on other sats.

    I have:
    1) replaced coax ends....
    2) on my south sat, moved up/down/left/right (no signal improvement)
    3) universial LNB in/out/lft/rt...(no signal improvement)
    4) saved cahnnels and factory reset...
    5) pulled my hair out...

Now i assume the LNB/dish pointing is okay cause i recieve many sats from 43' to 116.8....the prevously scanned channels are there and work...

    any thoughts...please...

    thanks
    julian

Hmmm. Very strange. Maybe you were zapped by lightning.

Have you tried manually inputting a station you liked?

Can you do any scans like Auto scan, TP scan, Have you tried to manually turn off receiver with the rear switch then on after a little while. I know you may have done these but sometime we get so frustrated, a clear mind might help. Check your LNB settings. Hi and Low scan I have an LPN-031
I tried to change the Power scan values and it wound not even start to scan. Recheck all settings..................
I hope you can figure it out with having to but a new receiver.

I was about to post the exact same message- my Mercury II suddenly has no blind scan either. I pretty much stick to AMC 6 and SBS6, I always know I can find lots of local sat trucks on them around news time. Then, nothing...just before posting this I tried going over to Galaxy 25, and...nothing. Not a single transponder showed up on blind scan, even though all of the channels are still there working fine.

Unless someone comes up with something, I may try a factory reset, even though that means re-scanning everything. Then again, if it still doesn't work, I'm hosed (no tps-no anything!)

    Merc II blind scan...FIXED

I tried the factory reset and that did it. But here's the problem: restoring all of the channels which were already there makes the Power Scan not work! That is, doing a Channel Backup and then Channel Restore. There's something in there that messes up the Power Scan. So, as I type I'm redoing the whole thing. It's very obviously a software issue.

    It also happened to me...

Several months ago I had the same issue, where it would scan but log in no new freqs. (Search my posts, I wrote about it with questions.)

My only solution was that I needed to do a factory reset and then scan in all sats again.

That worked! (But) If I do that again, I will physically write down all of the satellites that I have saved there on my mercury II.

You just don't realize all of the tweeking that you do to it in 3-4 months, let alone a year or more.

I want to upgrade my software/firmware, (v1.00 + v1.06) But I Don't want to fry my Mercury II so that it is unusable.

[You know, when something works, why fix it?]

    Thanks...

OldSalty, Is this a new install? Do you have your receiver set properly to linear where needed and circular where needed? It sounds like your aim to the sats may be off if your receiver settings are correct.

I would disconnect the Circular cable and remove the diseqc switch and only use the linear until you get the signal you need. There are only two or so sats with 2 or 4 stations on circular, so eliminate that from your mix until things are up and running. Then make sure your receiver has the settings proper for the linear reception on each sat you are planning to aim to.

    good luck
