the red button on my ultra does nothing it automatically sets the AC3 sound on channels that have it.

Well on my Fortec Classic, I have to toggle between regular audio and AC3 using the red botton. For most stuff like news, I have it set at regular audio, but if there is a good concert, then I turn on the stereo and switch over to AC3 for maximum enjoyment.
Two different receivers the ultra does have a audio button but the AC3 is controlled automaticaly.

If that is the case with the Ultras, then I guess Larry is out of luck??
when mine won't broadcast in AC3 mode I switch to a channel with sound then back and the AC3 locks in.
Same here Rainman, it usually works, but sometimes I have to do a hard reset of the box too.
