Music and radio stations on Satellites

Use your Fortec Star receiver to get all these FTA audio channels on Nimiq, Dishnetwork and so forth. It is easy to setup and has many hot features (Sorting, favorite lists, menu navigation, LNBF setup) than other receivers. You will need a circular LNBF (the DBS type that comes with DirecTV or Dishnetwork). The Local Oscilator frequency for this type of LNBF is 11250.

Also, a combination HH Motor with a receiver and two LNBFs (Linear and Circular) will get you over 200 FTA channels (Audio/ Video) off satellites. See our example setup here:

Will the Fortec Lifetime receiver work in this setup also, instead of the 786?

Can the SG2100 rotor be used with the Fortec 120 cm. dish in this setup, instead of the Stab HH120?

How do you know which satellites and transponders use linear or circular polarization?

Thanks,
Dana

I'll let Sadoun answer your Fortec questions as I'm not real familiar with them -- I keep meaning to try one out, but I seem to be in a SatCruiser frame of mind :roll:

Anyway, to tell whether a satellite is linear or circular polarity; go to www.lyngsat.com and click on the satellite in question. Under the first column on the left you will see the heading "Freq / TP"; if the transponders are labelled as V or H then that is linear polarity; if they are labelled as L or R then that satellite uses circular polarity.

here is a linear satellite (TelStar 5) ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/t5.shtml

here is a circular satellite (Nimiq 82) ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/nimiq2.shtml

Yes the LifeTime will do the same.

The SG2100 is rated up to 1.2m dishes. It depends on the weight of the dish. I haven't used it on a Fortec 1.2M dish yet. I will try and let you know. I need to do a thorough investigation of what the proper weight/dish size for the SG2100.

The Fortec 1.2M dish is heavy. I noticed that the HH120 struggles when the dish is way of center by +/- 35 degrees. It has to do with the weight of the dish. The HH120 is rated at 37 lbs maximum dish weight.

Dual LNBF setup

Hello again,

I want to setup a dual LNBF system just like your example on your web site. I might make a couple of variations, and would like input on whether it will work or not, in my area. First off, I am in a very remote area of Panama, Latitude 9.35 N, Longitude 82.25 W.

I plan to use a 1.2 meter dish, preferably aluminum, for its lighter weight to work better with an SG2100 motor, and a Fortec Lifetime receiver. I also plan to have a Universal LNBF, plus a DSS LNBF to pick up the music stations. I would rather use the SG2100 motor, rather than the Stab, because it is cheaper, and it actually got better reviews than the Stab.

Will this work at my location?
Any recomendations on the LNBFs I should buy?
What about the dish?
Which 1.2 meter dish works best with the SG2100 motor?
Does the SG2100 motor support USALS?
I believe it does, but am not sure.

Any help or info on this would be appreciated.
Thankx

for you location you need a 2m dish at least to get the dss satellite programings(dishnetwork or nimiq radio stations), but you can still get Hispasat, nauhel, panamsat 9.... with a 120 cm dish

There is a Latin American version of DirecTV here in Panama.
They use 1 meter dishes. Any idea which satellite they are getting it from?
It must only be one, since the DirecTV dishes here all have only single LNBFs. I have not seen any dual or triple LNBF setups here, like they have in the US.

If I can find out which satellite they are using, I should be able to pick up the music channels from it with a 1.2 meter dish.
