100+ FTA Radio stations
100+ satellite radio stations are available for FREE on Express VU (Nimiq 1 91* W) satellite and other satellites like Echostar (DISH NETWORK),
See the complete list here:
http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/expressvu.shtml
http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/dish7.shtml
Any of our MPEG2 receivers, an 18" small dish, and a DSS LNBF should be all you need to enjoys those stations.

How do I configure my Lifetime FTA motorized setup to receive this ???
I have a DiSeqC switch (not installed) and a DSS LNBF (not installed)
I've looked at the pictures on the website and just don't get it. Specifically, do I have to edit each and every satellite entry to tell the IRD which LNBF to look at ???
I'd love to listen to these ... best of all ... they are FREE !!

1. Tie the circular lnbf next to the linear lnbf.
2. Install the Diseqc switch between the lnbfs and h-h mount.
3. Connect lnbfs' output to the diseqc input.
4. Connect diseqc output to h-h mount.
5. Go to the Lifetime setting menu, set up the LO and Diseqc port accodingly to your connection. Example: if linear lnbf is connected to port1 and circular uses port2, setting Diseqc port1 for linear sats, ports2 for DishNEtwork/BellVu sats.

Thanks, Michael, that's what I wanted to know.
Facing the dish, does it matter which side I place the circular LNBF on ??
To answer my own question, apparently, yes, I must tell my Lifetime which LNBF to look at for each satellite, correct ?

"Facing the dish, does it matter which side I place the circular LNBF on ??"
No. Facing the dish, if you place the circular lnbf on right side, it will hit a location approximately 4 degs toward the west from the linear lnbf, meaning if your dish parks at T5, the circular lnbf will hit something at 101W. If you place the circular lnbf on the left side, it will hit a location aproximately 4 degs towards the East from the linear lnbf. So use this reference for locating the circular sats.
"To answer my own question, apparently, yes, I must tell my Lifetime which LNBF to look at for each satellite, correct ?"
Yes. If you set up the Diseqc port correctly, the receiver will automatically switch the lnbfs for you.

Ok. So, then, I should edit the satellite entry for the circular sats to be +/- 4 degrees so USALS will hit them, right ??
Thanks again Michael. I'll buy you a beer next time I'm in SF (can't wait to get back !!)

You move the dish using Diseqc 1.2 to search for circular sats like other linear ones. The reason I post the degs differences between linear and circular is that you have an idea what direction you should move to search for the circular sats. Make sure you set up the Diseqc ports correctly. -/+ 4degs thing is not exact, it might be 5 or 6 degs...:-), so if you want to edit the long for the DishNet sat so USALS works, you might need to use "trial and error" approach. I am thinking of doing that as well, just don't have time to do it yet. For now, I program everything using Diseqc 1.2

FTA radio
What we need is a small receiver like XM or Sirius that we can use in our cars. All you manufacturers out there I would buy that.

that Iceberg's post is dated 2004 as you can see above...
But now.. many of those Sirius music channels on E* 7 there .. and scrambled.. and ONLY several maybe are still FTA ..
Depending what type of music you like ..those might be suitable for your listenning.. but the FTA ones..are something like symphonic music, etc etc.. (can't recall exactly now).. but surely NOT the popular modern Sirius channels.. those are scrambled long time ago...
They might have been FTA there.. only first little while...

There are quite a few FTA music radio channels now on IA5 (97W).
DM may be able to list them as he tracks IA5 well.

If you use the QPH032 LNBF with a diseqc switch you can receive both liniar and circular sats.
There are a lot of music stations on 97W(over 100 I believe)free.
You have free music from Canada on 82W,Free music on 91W and a lot of free music on 119W I believe also about 100.
There are also some radio programs in between,I don't remember which.
The circular sats have a lot of music, but the music on 97W is also plentiful.
