moved thread out of review area and to main area

advantage-you can get Cubavision on PAS9

disadvantage-can't use a 22k switch if you have 2 LNB's
scanning can take longer
if you use an analog box slaved to it the frequencies are off

For the average FTA user it is not going to make any difference. In fact all Fortec Star receivers come setup for UNIVERSAL type LNBF by factory default. So if you aim is to use the LNBF on a stationary dish, then by all means use whatever you want.

If you intend in using it on a motorized system, that is also fine. The only issue with UNIVERSAL LNBF is like iceberg said, you can't use them with a 22KHz switch (in case you want to use multiple LNBFs with one receiver). You will have to us a DiSEqC switch instead.

Because we sell Fortec FTA receivers primarily, we include a UNIVERSAL lnbf to make it easier for the average user to setup their new system with less changes in the default settings.
