my linear LNB may be dead?

Hey guys!

Looks like my Fortec LNB has stopped functioning. Not getting any signal on any sats. I have it motorized and hooked up to a switch. I thought it was switch but i bypassed it and hooked up directly to motor LNB in and still nothing. Switch cable also still nothing. The signal stays at 20%. Is there anything I can do before I buy another LNB?

I'd get a voltmeter, and make sure that you're getting voltage to the LNB, and make sure if it's high enough. Or, if no meter, at least insert one of those little meters and see if it squeals. Over the years, I've had 3 LNBs go bad, but I've also had 2 receivers go bad such that they weren't putting out any LNB voltage. I'd also unplug your receiver for a minute or two, and try again. I've also had a receiver that stopped giving LNB voltage, but then started working again after I turned it off for a while.

Well I got a multimeter. You say i should just test to see if the receiver is giving out voltage? My circular LNB works with no problem.

OK, if the circular works, the I guess it's putting out voltage. Looking more like the lnb I guess.
