Can I use a Dish network receiver to scan for FTA

Is it possible to use a Dish network receiver 301 to help with the installation of a motorized FTA setup? I have a Satcontrol SM3D12 motor with an unknown brand offset dish that had been used with a satellite internet setup. I have a Fortec lnb. I know that the Dish network receiver doesn't have the ability to move the motor, but they do have a pretty nice dish alignment menu that not only tells you signal strength and quality, but identifies what satellite you're on. It would be great for using to help with the setup of my system.

Dish Network receiver works with echostar satellites only, if you aim at another satellite, it will beep low, show red bar, and display "wrong sat" if anything. And it does not show the frequencies, and does not allow you to specify your own. Bad idea.

It may work with 121W Echo9 sat, though
