A newbie needs help

Hi everyone. This is ALL new to me. My husband and I are definitely interested in FTA satellite. We live in central NY state, in a valley. I understand we well need a 90cm dish? What else do you recommend as far as receivers go, etc. We used to only have an antennae, without much success. We also are not horribly technical, so the simpler terms the better! Thanks in advance!

the fortec receivers are good either the classic or the mercury II. you will need a line of site to the south. and depending on what programing you want to receive you may need a motor.

Thanks, Rainman. South might work...I was looking at the following. Should I get the 90cm dish with that? It sounds like since I am in the Northeast it is a good idea. Any other advice?

M-1Motorized CLASSIC Blind Search Choice Set: This system will allow you to move the dish to several satellites to watch more channels. A powerful solution if your favorite channels are available over several satellites. The receiver's remote control will actually control the whole system for you. The motor gets its power from the same coaxial cable going to the dish, so no extra wiring is needed.

System Includes:
~ Fortec Star Lifetime CLASSIC NA FTA Digital satellite receiver
~ Digipower SG-2100 DiSEqC Motor
~ Fortec 31" FS80P Dish
~ Universal mount that lets you put the satellite dish on your roof or exterior wall of your house.
~ Fortec universal 0.4dB Single KU LNBF.

Where is the best place to put the dish? Is it usually just put on the house? How easy is it to install ourselves? I am good at reading manuals and following directions!

i have got my dish mounted on a pole sunk in cemment in the yard easier to get to work on it.but the idea spot is where you can get a clear line of site from SE to SW.they are not to bad on the install if you run into problems just post to the instalallation section and some one will help you get through it.
