All Satellites' scans return the same few channels

I purchased a motorized satellite Kit (FC90U, HH90, KUL2, FS Mercury II), recently. I installed it last Wednesday 1/03/2007 and seemingly everything went well. I started scanning for channels on IA5 and got a few channels a lot less than I expected, based on the listing posted on FTA websites. I scanned other satellites like Gallaxy 10, AMC 5, etc. To my surprise they all displayed the exact same channels. It did not make sense to me but I did not think much about it, either. That evening I gave up and went to bed. Since then it has been overcast or raining. Thursday night I got even fewer channels then when I first started, as they have become scrambled or “no signal”. I rescanned on IA5 and now the result is even worse. I got 4 viewable channels only. I checked other satellites and again the result is the same. Friday evening was the same as Thursday. Saturday, I decided to clear all channels from all satellites and start fresh. I ordered the dish to "0" position, turned off receiver, and lifted the dish about 2 feet higher on the pole hoping to clear any possible obstruction with the roof. According to the satellite finder, I have a good signal.
I turned the receiver back on "moving dish to satellite position" message came out. Scan IA5, again, and no viewable channels. I checked other satellites - same result. This morning I went outside and stared at the disk, trying to understand what is going on. I came to the conclusion that the dish is not moving to the satellite position like the receiver indicated. The motor is holding the "0" position and does not move east or west. I turned off and unplugged the receiver for several minutes and re-plugged it and checked if there is any thing obstructing the movement. I also checked the limit settings and they are off. The situation is the same. I am inclined to say that motor is defective but before I disassemble anything I would like to have the forum's expert opinion. In case you wonder about the cable, it works as I tested it with a dishnetwork system that I own and I get my channels just fine. As a matter of fact, I am watching the dishnetwork channels as I am writing this message, on the same cable. Is it a matter of replacing the motor or is there anything else that needs to be done? Thanks.

Did you make the entries in your receiver for lat and long? If not your receiver will not move the motor. Can you move the motor manually with the receiver? Can you move the motor manually at the motor? Should have small switches on the motor itself. When making your receiver entries make sure they are correct. In other words if you are N and W make sure it specifies N and W and not N and E as an example. Just a couple things to look at prior to calling the motor bad.

Is it necessary to enter the Lat. and Long. if I am not using USALS? I have not tried entering that info. because I was using DiSeqC, which was a premade choice.
You can't move the dish by hand, at the motor. I have not tried moving it using the receiver, I will try that this evening.
I have seen small holes at the bottom of the motor. What do the switches do?

These small holes are orobably for moving the motor manually.Try pushing them and see what happens.
