120 cm or 8 ft dish

I am thinking of upgrading to a 1.2 m motorized dish, would like to try picking up a little c ban. I have access to a BUD (around 8 ft mesh) and while on the c ban side I know it would be a lot better I was wondering how the Bud mesh dish with a c/ku lnb would compare to the 1.2 m solid dish on the ku ban. Thanks

Check the diameter of the holes in your mesh. Per member PMB on this link, if the hole is smaller than 1/10" you should get Ku band.

I found a KTI mesh dish, 2m size, that I have not been able to get the Ku.
I am happy with my system. I have a 36" dish for the Ku band, and the 2m mesh dish for the C-band. I have a separate controller for moving the 2m dish and it works for me (Vbox). If you can get both up and running, I wouldn't bother trying to put C-band on your 1.2m dish. But if you are limited for space and just want to play around with it... it is a possiblity to use the 1.2m. You will only get some of the stations.

All of the KTI (KaulTronics) dishes have a small mess holes in them an will work fine for C & Ku. now a 1.2m will beat the KTI on signal gain on Ku band, but not by much all depend on what you use for a feed an how well the dish is peaked in.

for the longest time ran a 7 1/2-foot Unimess on a H to H mount an loved it, with a Pan-3500, an it found several feeds both C & Ku. but just had a Chaperral Co-rotor on it for a feed. tried a BSC-621 an very poor performer on Ku, but the nice thing about that Pan-3500 is it has sevo controls to change from V to H on you're polarity.

now if I was you I would get both 7 1/2 KTI an the 1.2m, after all 1 can not have to many dishes up an running at 1 time.
