Help with G25
Hi all, Am having trouble getting all of the FTA channels on Galaxy 25 (IA5). Have a fortec mercury II receiver, 30" dish (or so) universal LNB, and have a stationary setup at this time. I have a signal strenghth of 90 and signal quality of 60-65. I can't get TP3 (11789-V) to come in. All others are up and strong. I have tried to move dish a hair to right and left of signal to get, but no good. Will take most any suggestion to try and get this in. (Also just read that G25 will be replaced by G19 3rd QTR of this year)

11789 V is not a very strong transponder here on West Coast, but still viewable.
Is quality 60 - 65 shows on this particular transponder? Do you have any rain there? If you do, wait for better weather
What about 11966-H 22000, also not very strong, do you watch this?

When I had this once, I know was was a weak signal, and was hard to get. I am not getting any signal for this transponder (or quality). The signal strenghth and quality were for the other transponder on the SAT. I have een reading some of the other threads and it looks like I may be able to (try) and set the reciever to add the transponder (when I go to add it signal bounces from 2-4, then try to tweak the antenna for a signal? Then see if the signal strenght comes in. Will let you know if works. As far as the weather goes, some TS in area right now, and a lot of smoke from North Carolina swamp fire. (Don't think smoke affects signal?)

Try skewing your LNB, ie rotate it a little clockwise or counterclock to see if you can get more signal. My other suggestion is to buy a bigger dish.

OK, got them all (TPs and channels). I have learned alot, mosty from this fine forum! Turns out that:
1) I had assumed that the LNB setting should be universal - That was a WRONG assumption. Just because you have a standard LNB, doesn't mean is universal. I (in desparation) was sitting there, pushing buttons, and went through the LNB types on the sscreen, and GOD smiled, and signal and quality appeared where there was none. I power sacanned G25 again, and everything came in. Now that I realized what happened, it seems pretty simple.

most lnbf will have the LO freq printed on them. but it is always good to check different freq if you are not sure what type of lnbf you have.
