what size dish are you using? this is a weak TP so a smaller dish will have trouble pulling it in also a dish that is not perfectly aligned will have problem with this TP.

Cool new satellite

G10 is in the process of retiring.
Today I noticed that the TP's had better signal probably they already finish the cut over to the G17.

yep it was suppose to switch this past weekend so hopefully it will give better signal strength when they are finshed.

36" dish will work just find your alignment may be off some and you will need to tweak your dish.

G17

Hi---where did you get the info for G17 taking over for G10r. All I could find is that G17 will be at 91 degrees. It could have been old info. Lyngsat shows it at 123 degrees. But nothing on it. Will this be a transparent change over.
Thanks;
Jim

tp 11720

i tweaked my dish and everything works fine. thanks for the help. jak327 is the 6ft c-band/ku package with v-box and actuater arm and lnbf that sadoun sells work good for more fta channels? can you pick up satellite w5 satellite with it if you hook up a dsr-410 receiver? sky vision offers a 410 deluxe package that seems like a good deal.

G10R-Galaxy 17- Galaxy 18

Galaxy 17 was moved to 123 as a backup in case something happened during launch or testing of Galaxy 18. G10R will be replaced with G18 once in orbit testing is done. 123 West is a important location because of its use for C band feeds to cable headends. Those content providers uplinking to 123 west pay good money for that location and they expect 100% uptime with no loss of signal. Everyone, C and Ku users should see improved signal strength and quality once G18 becomes operational. I would expect them to finish testing in the next week or so and to start moving feeds to G18 soon. Galaxy 17 will be moved back to 91 west to replace G11 since it has the same fuel and control problems that G10R has due to poor design of the ION thrusters onboard.

take it you mean the replacement of G10R with G18, it will depend on the carriers they elect to broadcast - your birdog will not be able to read DVB S-2. Will all the carriers be changed to DVB S-2 and the BIRDDOG will not find G10r on G18

Finally!!!!
Now I can see RTN and all other channels with no problem.
G18 is coming with great signal quality in Florida.
As a reference I use to receive 11720 with 10% quality with my 6 footer, now with no tweaking I receive the same transponder at 65% steady.
