viewsat ultra issue

i have a viewsat ultra that shuts off and comes on randomly. what can the possible cause be? thank you.

Sounds like it may possibly be a power supply issue. When it gets hot it breaks down and "shuts off" then when it cools it starts back up again (it never really was off). This is not to say there is not something in the power circuit that is the culprit.

I do not know what your receiver sells for but most FTA receivers are pretty cheap and not really worth fixing.

watch for a short in your coaxial line.

the receiver is only two months old. the unit seems to reboot,because it will shut off and come back on by itself to the channel it was last on. thank you for the replies.

Cool short

I insist to look for a short in the coax.
Keep in mind that there is voltage going out from the box to the LNB.
Test the receiver with no coax attached and if it stays on without rebooting then it is the cable.

Excellent advice. Passed right over my thoughts but if you just unhook the coax as stated and the problem goes away it is an easy fix.
