Cool Ultra

I have an ultra.
Once you create the satellite, make sure to set the L.O. frequency for the LNB, then diseqc or 22KHz depending on the switch you are using, then motor.
If you are working with USALS, make sure to set the correct degrees where this new satellite is located. Example if you add Intelsat 5 the location is 97°W.
With this basic settings you can do a blind scan and the new satellite will populate with all the valid transponders that you can see from your location or if you want to enter them manually in the channel scan function there is submenu where you enter frequency, polarity, and symbol rate.
Once you enter a known to be good transponder, press OK and the box with get the channel or channels associated with that transponder, video and audio accordingly.
This procedure applies to C band and to Ku band.
Be careful with the blind scan "step"; The viewsat ultra is notorious for creating bogus transponders and as a consequence duplicated channels.
The duplicated channels associated to the bogus (off frequency) transponders make the duplicated channels invalid.
