    fta satellite dish aiming issues

i have the following hardware: viewsat ultra receiver, mostek SG2100,Invacom quad polar lnb, and fortec 30" dish. i live in scranton,pa 18504. the only satellite i can get is 110w echostar.

i have a couple of questions. what should i enter on my set up screen on my viewsat receiver. for lnb type, lnb freq, etc. what satellite would be best for me to aim at to get my initial set up? what way is best to reset my motorized dish to it's default position? thank you.

Based on your location, 41.412777 N, 75.686081 W You want to set the motor on the LATITUDE scale to 41.4. Your dish needs to be set to 30 degrees MINUS you declination angle which is 6.38 which is 23.6. You may have to set your dish elevation around 5 degrees higher because the scale on the dish is wrong. So, you dish elevation might end up being around 28.

You should choose STANDARD as your LNB and frequency of 10750. Make sure you have the cable connected to one of the L ports on your LNB when you are performing this installation. The C is for circular satellites and requires a DiSEqC Switch to view a circular bird like Echo 7 at 119 which has NASA in the clear. Don't try to add a switch until you have everything installed and working.

You will have to use Horizons 2 at 74 degrees west as your true south satellite. You should point your whole motor/dish assembly at true south then connect your receiver and motor to Horizons 2. Then, set your transponder to 11734-H-6616 and begin moving slowly back and forth until you have high signal and qulaity. Once you have this, scan the satellite and then move to the eastern and western most satellites and do the same thing.

There is a detailed set of instructions on the Sadoun.com website that explains in detal how to install an HH motor.

If you need to reset your motor, with the receiver connected, use the buttons on the motor to move the dish to ZERO position. Then, using a toothpick or a paperclip, insert it into the reset hole and press the reset button.
