Strange HH100 issues - motor not staying on satellite

Hi Everyone,

Any Ideas? I am having a strange issue with my motor. When I first got it I could get all the satellites over the usa 61.5 - 148. Now I can't go past 129 or 83. The motor will start to go to them and then go back to zero then back to the left or right depending which side I tried to go to and just keeps moving back and forth sometimes just moving a couple degrees back and forth near zero. I thought it might be the long cable run about 150-170 feet but I put the reciever back in the garage with a 30 foot run or so and it is still doing the same thing. The motor sounded a little grindy then I remember it being. I have set the reciever back to factory mode clearing everything but that didn't help either. My motor is only a year and 2 months old. It seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. I did a a qph-031 and I thought this might be adding to much weight on the motor or something and making it act wierd. But my dish is only 90cm and should be just fine. I am using usals and have my lat/long set correctly in the settings. Like I said it was all working fine for the first few months and now it doesn't want to work correctly. Even sometimes if I go to any satellite it will go to it and then bounce around go to it again for a few seconds and then move again.
Could I have something incorrect whith adding the qph-031? I originally had the snh-031. I pick up circlular and linear just fine when it will stay on the satellite.
I hope I have described this in enough detail . You guys have been such a great help to me with this hobby!.

My equipment:
90P dish
MercuryII
qph-031
42.42 N, 88.60 W
rg6 Quad shield

Thanks,
Ozifer

my stab 100 did this from time to time would have to use the receiver to tell the motor to go to zero then it would work ok . I think it was do to changing my mind when going to a sat then decide to go to another before it got to the first sat.the 100 was a good motor but got to much slack in the shaft so had to replace it.

Hi Rainman,

Thanks for the reply. I have done that many times tried to set back to zero and then tried to go back to the satellites. It has not worked for me. I am beginning to think I might have a bad motor or maybe the circuit board is losing its mind. It is frustrating. I was thinking of purchasing a different motor maybe a bigger one.

Cool gears

Possible bad gears.
It happened to me with an SG2100.
No matter how many times you reset it, it lands off by a couple of degrees, sometimes just one degree off which is good enough to get bad signal or no signal at all.

I replaced mine with a DG 240 and I love it been working since September without a bit of problems and I am tracking the arc from 43w to 148w.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I might go with Rainman's reccomendation and order the DG motor. I really thought I was buying one of the best motors when I went with the HH100.. maybe I got a bad one.

I guess it could be the gears but it seems to go all the way to the left or right it just won't stop and just keeps moving back and forth. It will stop on satellites that are more in the middle of the arc, it just doesn't like to go to the far ones and that's when it really goes nuts. Sometimes it also doesn't want to stop on the ones that are in the middle it will bounced to zero and back again continuing for sometimes 20 minutes just moving back and forth..

Thanks again,
Ozifer

Well I have finally gone ahead and purchased the DG380 tonight. Hopefully I have better luck with this one then the HH100. I finally could not get it to stick on a single satellite, it just would go from zero all the way east and making weird grinding noises. I couldn' t take it any longer being without my channels so I have gone with what Sadoun is saying is their best motor. I know this is a relatively new motor and I have been trying to decide for a while now to go with it or not. I should have bought it a couple weeks ago when it was on sale for 10 dollars off, but I couldn't make up my mind.

Anyways, does anyone else have this motor DG380? Any thoughts or comments on it.

Thanks,
Ozifer
