The Big Question

Can it be done?

When I get my Fortec Star Mercury II receiver, and have it as a slave to my 4DTV DSR922, with the BUD slave kit all hooked up as follows.,

The DSR922 is with a TV in the living room where all the slave kit (splitters and DiSEqC switch) are attached to the wall behind the TV. I will run a RG-6 coax from the DiSEqC switch some 25 feet to the den where I will attach it to a A/B switch, from there a RG-6 to the Mercury II receiver.
If the wife is on T7 satellite..watching something else on another channel.
QUESTION.. Will I be able to watch the Sportsman channel TP1(different channel) on the MPEG-2 DVB receiver?

As long as the channel she is watching is the same polarity as the Sportsman channel.

the other way around?

Would it be possible to connect a DSR922 to the Mercury II 'IF' connection and get signal through the Mercury?

I just got a used DSR922. Is it capable of receiving some signals without any activation or subscription?

yep it should work and as long as the 922 had been authorized in the past you should be able to get the free stuff.

no channels yet...

Rainman, Thanks. I think i am doing this right.
I have a 31" dish with motor controlled by the Mercury. I hook up coax between the DSR922 and IF of the Mercury... I am just not very clear on how to program channels into the DSR. I turn the dish to a satellite with the Mercury and then look on the DSR to see if there are any channels, but I haven't found any yet. I can get Ku sats 72 to 115 on my arc. I know there is some setting that I am not doing right... any suggestions?

Thanks...

remember the Mercury will control the polarity. try 99 degrees west galaxy 16 this will be listed as x4 on the DSR channel 644 is in the clear.also make sure you hook the coax to the ku port on the 922.

no x4

My Mercury does not show any Ku band tp's on 99. The DSR 922 lists 24 satellites and there is no X4... There is a T4, G4, and C4 which I tried and there is no channel 644 listed... Perhaps I should subscribe to the minimum channels... That would update the receiver and time wouldn't it? The clock is 2 1/2 hours out of wack, and I haven't found how to change it. This is fun... I luv puzzles...

Thanks..
