I made this first post in the hope that admin might answer and say hey you are member on our forum what do you need. or something like that. Maybe I worded my first post wrong. I will need to buy everything except a reciever for this dish ( i.e. actuator, positioner, lnb ) but I see no need to buy any of this until I can find a polar mount for it. I was hoping I would not have to go thru flea-bay I would much like to work with someone I can trust. I just thaught maybe somone had a friend, mother-in-law, or something like that had one they wanted to get out of there way.
P.S.
sorry if my first was against the site rules I not mean for it to be.

?? What kind of dish do you have???
Since you're talking actuators and positioners, it sounds like you're talking about a C-band dish, however most C-band dishes come with a polar mount attached., unless you have a small one that comes with a fixed mount. If your dish didn't come with one, I don't think that you are going to find a C-band polar mount that is compatable with actuators. About the only chance you would have, is if your dish is a relatively light 6' dish, in which case you might be able to adapt it to work with an H180 motor instead of an actuator.
But anyway, you haven't given enough info for a useful reply.

your best bet is to look around for a dish not being used anymore and ask for it sometimes people are happy to get rid of them and you can get one for free or a very small amount.

sorry about that...
It is a 6' offset 70.5" X 76" dish. I was looking at a motex H180 from Sadoun but someone on another site it would not work. It is a fiberglass dish and came with a fixed mount on it. I found it at a construction site and stoped and asked and they said I could have it. With the fixed mount and all it is WILL NOT go over 50 lbs.

The way you go Gemlin is going to depend on how good you can work with metal. because you will have to put a offset in a ring from the prime focas dish to offset feed ku an it is going to depend on the offset angle of the glass dish that you got ( about 25 degrees thats about a average for that size dish). an that will need to added to the ring of a prime focaas ring if you go that way. now i got a 1.5 meter channel master offset feed with a old Certified industries Horz to Horz mount an had to do a lot of fab work to get that mount to fit, cutting an welding. but luckey for me i can do it an my cousin is a machinest. so good luck Gremlin.

In addition to the above, when you try to do something like 1captain said, it tends to get the dish out away from the rotation axis meaning that there is more torque on the motor. The motors designed for small offset dishes have a bend in the shaft which is primarily there to allow the dish mount to go to negative elevations, however it also serves the purpose of keeping the center of gravity of the dish closer to the rotation axis, minimizing the torque on the motor. Anyway, I think that even if you manage to fabricate a suitable connection, you may just find that the dish is too heavy for the motor because it's center of gravity is out too far.

wejones does that mean that the h180 will not work. I will take picture of the way the mount is on it now and let you see what you think.

I don't know. I've never used that motor, and don't know how powerful it is. I was just saying that since you had an idea of the weight, and apparently the motor must have weight specs, that the specs are probably based on a dish that would mount closer to the rotation axis. Ie it can move more weight if it's centered or counter-balanced, but if you have to mount the weight away for the axis, it might not perform to specs. But it may be more powerful than I suspect.
I'm surprised that it is as light as you say. The Fortec metal dish of that size is listed as 55 lbs, and I always thought that fiberglass dishes were heavier than metal, but I guess it depends on what they have inside the fiberglass.
Anyway, don't give up on the basis of what I said, I mainly meant the post to recommend that if you do try it, try to orient it as close to the motor axis as possible.

Here are a couple of pictures of different polar mounts you can use. We sell the 1st one. It is around $90 plus S/H.

I would love to buy one from you. You have everything else that I need also you know one stop shopping LOL!!!. It will work for a offset dish? If so which linear actuator would you recommend for this size dish.
Thank you for your help Sadoun.
part numbers would help also for the mount.
