Coolsat 6000 Premium Help
I am a relatively new member of the FTA society. I recently purchased a Coolsat 6000 Premium, and have been relatively satisfied with its performance.
I do not think the documentation provides enough detail on some of the functions, and have been challenged in receiving anything from 123.0W G10R.
I am receiving a decent signal on one of the transponders (11798, 92% strength, 63% quality) but do not receive any of the channels associated with it when I scan. I have tied the blind scan feature as well as the auto and manual menus.
I have been able to pull down lots of channels from 97.0W IA-5, as well as from other satellites, so I believe that everything is set up correctly.
Any suggestions on what I else I might try?

My assumption is you are using a motorized system. Your strength reading really means nothing as every receiver puts out readings differently. Are you getting a lock on the 11720 transponder? That is generally perceived as the weaker of the transponders on 123. What size dish? What is your location? If 123 is on the edges of your arc your dish a little bit out of alignment. Alignment becomes very critical when getting out on the ends of the arc you can view. If you are working with a stationary dish and manually moved it to the 123 location play with the lnbf skew. This is done by rotating the lnbf in it's mount. Most likely will need to rotate in a counter clockwise direction.

In addition to what Steve said, I'd have to ask....
What is the SR value of the 11798 transponder that you say you have the lock on? Ie if by chance you scanned it in with a 20,000 SR value, then you're probably actually pointed at G23, in which case you'd get a lock, but couldn't scan in channels, since they are encrypted.
But if it locks with a 26660 SR value (or close to that), then you're probably on the right sat, and I don't know why it wouldn't scan in channels.

That's the info I was looking for! My BEC is 45 - 50, Fortec seems to be around 20 and i do not remember the Coship's numbers.

yep the meter on the Coolsat is odd
Minimum is 63 max is either 82 or 99 depending on which software is in it.
Version 1.00 max is 82
Version 1.01 max is 99
But normally I would say you need a 66 to be stable...most are around 70-72 on the Coolsat 5000 when the Pansat shows 45-70....
Pansat 1500 stability is 30 whereas the 9200 is around 40

I do have a motorized system; I do not get a lock on 11720. I have a 70 cm dish and it is located in St Johns, MI. 42.55 N, 84.33 W. It locks at 26657.
Any ideas will be appreciated, as I still cannot get any channels from this satellite.

OK back to basics. Run the dish out to 123 and with the receiver and a small tv out at the dish gently push up and then down on the dish. Use a tp you have signal on like the 11800 you listed earlier. Did signal increase in one of the 2 directions? Write down if it was up or down. Now run all the way east to the furthest sat you can see/lock and repeat the up/down. Write down results.
IF you had signal increase on both ends when in opposite directions (push up at 123 increased and down in the east or visa versa) you are not aligned on true south. Move the entire assembly on the mast a tiny bit in the direction of up increased signal. Did I mention a tiny bit? 123 is out near the end for you so it will not take very much at all. I am assuming you have most all the other sats in the arc.
If your findings are equal. In other words down on both ends increased signal or up increased signal that is motor elevation. Adjust accordingly. Again this will be a very slight adjustment. So if down produced increased signal drop the motor setting by maybe 1/2 or a degree and increase dish setting by the same amount.
Clear as mud? Good.

I did too many things at once and now have lost the satellite. The advice given here has been very valuable, and I'm sure that I will be able to make it work. Family and job have gotten in the way of tuning everything in...
If I still have problems after I try everything I have learned, I know where to go for help.
Thanks to all for the assistance.
