Settings for circular?
What lnb type and frequency should I set receiver for picking up circular signals? I have an invacom quad 031 and mercury II receiver. I don't have the pbs on Galaxy 27 or Angel of Echostar 7. I think I did have the Angel 1 at first, but I don't now. I have the lnb type standard, and frequency at 10750, is that right? What else do I need to do?

But will that allow me to get linear signals too? I have a 22khz switch ,and if I understand it correctly, that switches between linear and cirucular, right? So I thought I should set the lnb to the lo frequency and then let the switch change it for circular. But, I don't know how to set the receiver, and since I am not getting both, I know I must be doing something wrong?

if you are using a 22khz switch it should be on for one and off for the other. so set it in your receiver so its on for one and off for the other.

Don't know what you mean?
I don't know what you mean? Do you mean that I have to set it to one frequency, download everything available, and then change it to the other frequency and download everything available on that frequency?
If so I misunderstood. I thought that the switch automatically changed and allowed you to scan everything at one time?

you are using a externial 22 khz switch I assume so you set it in the receiver to on for linear and off for circular.

I think the confusion is that you don't try to define both linear and circular for one satellite, it's either one or the other. If you are defining a circular sat, then select that sat via the switch and select the 11250 LO freq. If you are defining a linear sat, select the switch position for linear, and use 10750 LO. Ie you don't try to program it for both, as sats are generally either linear or circular, not both.
At least I THINK that's what the confusion is.

Yes, I guess that is where the confusion has come in. On Galaxy 27 there is White Springs TV, which is linear, and there is PBS out of Athens, which is circular. I thought I could just set the switch and it would scan the linear and then go on to the circular. If I scan both in using different settings, then can I just tune in the station and the receiver will change to the correct frequency? Thanks, this has been a very interesting month or so, trying to learn enough to keep the tv on.

the easy way to do 129 is to set up 2 sats for this location G27 and echo star 5 set G27 for the linear and echostar 5 for circular.

With some receivers, you might be able to do what you want, if it gives you the capability of selecting a universal lnbf type, AND the capability of changing the LO freqs to 10750 and 11250 (instead of the default), AND give you the capability of selecting the freq value at which point it selects the 2nd LO freq. However from what I have seen, the Mercury doesn't allow you to do this. You can do it with some computer based programs though. But since these are really two different satellites, it's MUCH easier, AND more accurate to do what Rainman said, ie just define two different satellites, since they ARE two different satellites.
