Bent Dish

Okay, I got a 90-cm Fortec dish that is slightly bent to the point that it is insensitive and takes a very long time to get a signal (if at all).

Actually, you would not notice the bend, except by examining it very carefully.

Of course, I've tried by hand to unbend it, but it's really well reinforced on the back, etc.

Well, I'm afraid I can make it worse.

Anyway, I hear stories of people finding bunged-up dishes in the woods,

duh,

and then taking them home and fixing them.

um,

and they work.

Like does that sound like a myth?

Like how can I get it back in the correct shape (without screwing it up?)

Do I need an experienced body shop guy or something?

Like who am I going to call?

Ghost Busters Or maybe RadioBob. He has experience in trying to straighten a dish.

Does it have a dimple in it, or is the whole dish warped along a diameter? I had the latter problem and gently flexed mine until it would lay dead flat on the cement floor. Some people report good results with the crossed string method of taping two tight strings from rim-to-rim across the face of dish, one vertical and the other horizontal and "adjusting" the shape of the dish until the strings just touch in the middle. The latter method has the advantage of not having to remove the dish from the mount or the LNB arm from the dish. Good luck.
