JLTV audio
What is the audio PID? JLTV is on G 10R , 123W 4180 H with the Outdoor Channel. Lyngsat lists 700, and it's listed elsewhere as 701 and 702.
Thanks,
Wayne

I'm not getting JLTV audio on a Fortec Mercury II at 702.
Have you any suggestions?
Thanks again,
Wayne

702 is AC3 audio. 700 is mpeg. If you have a 5.1 decoder on the optical port, either should work. If you're just using the R/L RCA output you need to use 700.
I see that they have fixed their PCR issue.

I have no decoder on the optical port.
4180/H/29270
Video PID 710
Audio PID 700
PCR PID 710
SID 34
And no audio. Perhaps I have something else misconfigured.
Thanks,
Wayne

No, it's not you. I just looked again, and I see that while the AC3 side is giving audio, that the mpeg stream (700) seems to be mute. There is a stream there, but it just doesn't seem to have audio right now.

An engineer at the Outdoor Channel swears to me the 700 PID mpeg audio works. Can anyone hear it on a receiver other than a Mercury II? They are using a Scientific Atlanta which probably costs a million bucks.
Thanks as always,
Wayne

I'm using both a Fortec Ultra and a Twinhan 1020a hooked up to Tsreader feeding VLC. No audio on the mpeg side on either.
I did a screen capture of the TSREADER display, see below:
The JLTV channel is shown in the upper right. Notice the spectra for the two audio feeds below the thumbprint image. The AC3 audio 1 is showing audio, while the mpeg audio 2 is dead. I notice that several other of the channels on this mux are doing similar things with the 2nd audio channel, so there must be something unusual going on here. Usually these audio spectra show audio on both channels.
EDIT: Notice also, over at the left, that the PCR is now correctly set to 710. When I first tuned this in this morning, I wasn't getting audio on either AC3 or mpeg, apparently because I had the channel save as it was several weeks ago when the PCR PID was messed up. I re-scanned the channel, and the AC3 started working, but still nothing on the mpeg side. You might try deleting the channel, and scan it in again, but right now, that mpeg channel seems dead.

Unless this is a personal friend do not contact providers of content with the exception of White Springs TV. These signals are not intended for personal consumption. They are there for content providers in hopes one will pick them up. Everyone involved has the technology to encrypt. Letting them know you are out there watching and even complaining about what you are getting for free is a great way to get a channel encrypted. Won't have to worry bout that audio feed then.
This is FTA. You get what you get. Just because he verifies the MPEG stream is fully functional does not mean he has it turned on. Would venture to bet it is off for a reason. Either watch something else or purchase the equipment required to receive what is there. Above all stop trying to set things up so those of us who do have the equipment required
can not view the channel at all.

Very good point. There are very few cases where they want us viewing the signals. You might be lucky, and get some technician who doesn't care, or even encourages people to watch,or, it may be a case where the feed is being sent to so many cable systems that it just isn't worth the trouble for them to encrypt, but in general, it's just not a good idea.
I would suggest that unless the web page for the channel specifically mentions being able to receive them via FTA receivers, then it's not a good idea to contact them. Of course I know of one case where it has come in handy. I'm on an NFL mailing list, and every pre-season a tv station uplinks preseason games via satellite, and one of the guys on my list routinely calls the sat technician and asks what transponder the feeds will be on, which has been helpful. Also, a couple years ago, a sat guy at NASA came on the Satforums forum, and was asking for signal reports for the DVB NASA uplink. But in general, no, don't contact these guys.
Back to the original question, I just captured some raw data from PID#700, and it is basically the same 5 bytes repeating over and over and over. No real audio there. Judging from the fact that a few weeks ago that they had the uplink's PCR configured wrong, I'm thinking that they aren't paying much attention to what they are doing at the uplink.

What equipment would that be, elgemcdlf, and where did you but it?
Thanks,

A surround sound receiver with an optical input. I bought mine at Circuit City for something like $125.00. Has 1 optical input and 2 digital audio cable input's. Connected the optical from the DVB receiver to it and the cable out of the 922 along with RCA audio from the 922 as the cable port will not pass analog audio. Once you have one in place you will be hearing all the AC-3 audio tracks available along with regular mpeg tracks. Along with having the thing piped through surround sound.

My quest continues.
Would you happen to have a model and manufacturer?
Thanks
