Ok here we go. Supposedly you can only get one polarity with the plate installed. I skewed my lnbf (something mosyt say is not required with circular) and manage to get almost everything from 40.5. My dish is set up fixed. I went with the BSC lnbf due to cost. The best pricing I could find for a feedhorn that did circular (not both) was $300.00. That was just the feedhorn. Was told I also would a need wide range lnb (probably have the terminology wrong on that one).
As to using for both in relation to 40.5. I find signal touchy on 40.5 for me in IN with a 8.5' dish and the BSC lnbf. Trying to get both with it in a linear config probably would not work. I have not tried to get linear with the plate installed. There are other sats over the Atlantic that have circular
C Band on them. I think 3 or 4 that are viewable from the US. The bulk of channels are on 40.5 though. I have around 125 channels from that sat. Most are South American channels.
My recommendation would be multiple dishes. One setup for circular and one for linear. Something else I have noticed. While the C Band may be circular the Ku from the same sat is usually linear. The exact opposite of the scalar ring piggy back Ku lnbf setup available. If you have any other questions concerning this particular sat and US reception I will do my best to answer.
