Programming Galaxy 11 Transponders on Fortec Lifetime
Hi Everyone:
Thanks for your help. This holiday week, I have found many new satellites and now have enough stations to enjoy watching FTA TV!
My Question:
I am trying to program the FOX stations on Galaxy 11 into my Fortec Lifetime receiver (3800 H 30.000). I have found this satellite, I can watch Rural Farm Television channel from this satellite with no problems. I try to program in the FOX stations at 3800 H 30.000, and the receiver will not find them.
I found Galaxy 3c, and programmed in the Huntsville locals at 12170 H 20.000 and the receiver found them no problem. I do not think I am doing anything different when I program these transponders, but the receiver will not pick up the FOX stations on Galaxy 11.
Any Idea what I am doing wrong??
Thanks, Mark

Just to follow up on my previous post, it seems I am unable to receive any signal that is below 11000 freq. I am using a Fortec Lifetime receiver. Have I set somthing wrong? Is there a problem with my receiver/LNB??
Thanks, Mark

This may be obvious and it may be a different problem, but if your using a standard FTA setup with a 1meter dish or so you can only get the KU satellites. The 3800 is C band and in that case you need one of the BIG UGLY DISHES.

You must use universal lnbf to tune in the international feeds. Most of them are on Atlantic satellites anyways. Or are you trying to tune in C-band? You can not get C-band with your current setup (ku dish, ku lnbf).
Hint:
C-band freq: 4 digits
Ku band freq: 5 digits.

Thanks for the reply, but let me clarify my problem.
In example: On lyngsat.com, for Galaxy 11, there are many stations in the 3000 to 4000 range that broadcast digital in the clear and are marked as DVB. I thought that DVB means Digital?? On Galaxy 11, and all other satellites I have found, I can only receive those stations that broadcast at the freq 11000 or higher. Should I be able to receive those digital stations that broadcast at the 3000 and 4000 frequencies??
Thanks, Mark

Mark,
As I have said, this freq range, 3000-4000, is C-band. You can't get C-band with Ku dish. Minimun C-band dish is 7.5ft.

Thanks for the responses from everyone, much appreciated.
I was under the mistaken idea that C-Band was analog and Ku Band was digital and therefore I could get anything that was digital. Now, I know that is not the case, thanks for clearing that up, but must say, I am a little disappointed. I was looking forward to all those great stations in the 3000-4000 range. Maybee somday I will live somwhere where I can have a big dish.
Till Then, Thanks
Mark

Most likely this will change in the future as less and less people are subscribing to C-band service and more stations are migrating to the KU-band service.
