Life time 96%quality, but no channeles found

I set up my fortec star dish with stabII motor. i get 96% quality and 74% level but when i come to scan for channeles it can no find any.
I have tried it with the factory default setting which is LNB= Universal, Local freq.= 9750/10600, 22= -, diseq= off, lnb power=on, tp 11749 V 7.232.

I also tried LNB= Standard, local freq= 9750, 22= off, diseq= off, LNB power= on, tp= 11749 v 7.232. I am useing a standard fortec star life time package sent by Sadoun so all parts are original.

Advise please?

Keep the defaut LNBF settings (i.e. Universal1). Check other transponders on the same satellite to make sure you are indeed on the intended satellite. Sometimes you could be aiming the dish at the wrong satellite and when you scan you get nothing.

Yes; I have found that some satellites have the same transponder frequencies and symbol rates -- very confusing -- I usually used 12,152 MHz - HOR - 20,000 SR to tune in Telstar 5. Of course, now that I have a Birdog all that is ancient history.

The elevation is at the correct angle. I looked at the satelite it was pointing in the right direction. I even tried moveing it east and west to see if I can get a better "quality" at another angle.
"Check other transponders on the same satellite to make sure you are indeed on the intended satellite." What do you mean by this? Is it the same thing I did? Thanks for your help.

I am useing a standard fortec lifetime reciever, fortec dish and fortec LNB. I am looking for telestar 5 from Nebraska. I have good quality and Level but can not scan any channels. I was wondering if anyone has similar problem and how I can fix it.

Re: Life time 96%quality, but no channeles found

If you get good quality, you should get the channels.
Fortect lnbf is Universal, therefore the LO must be set as:
Low 9750, High 10600

Since you use h-h mount, did you follow Sadoun instruction for setting it up. Besides the T5, what sats you can get lock?
Where are you located? What sat is your truesouth?
Give us more info...:-)

I had this satelit set on the roof 2 weeks ago and it was working well for a week, then we had a storm (no thunder, plus i have surge protector) and it moved the dish probably so i lost my reception. I had the tech that helped me set it up come back again and he said since we have lots of winds here lets bring it down and attach it to the side of the building on the wall. He then set it up on the wall and adjusted it with his satelite signal meter. I have no idea about the "True South" but I get 91% quality and still can not scan any channels, even after returning the reciever to default factory mode and starting the process over again. Is it possible that I need to return it to the roof? I think since i get 91% quality the lower location should still be ok!!?!? I live in Bridgeport NE. If you have any advice i will be greatfull.

Re: Life time 96%quality, but no channeles found

1. Try other transponder on T5 to see if you can get lock. By doing this, you can verify your dish is aiming at T5.
2. Location is not important as long as you have a clear view to see the sats.

Re: Life time 96%quality, but no channeles found

By trying other transponders do you mean: (on fortec lifetime) go to set up choose T5KU, stick with universal LNB, then go down to TP and change the values by clicking the right and left arrow and then see if i get good quality/level on different TP values? If that is so I do not get good quality with all of them. eg. I get good quality on default which is 11749 V 7.232 and none on 11813 V 5.171 and so on. Please let me know if that is different than the way it is suppose to be. AN

Yes, you will need to go through the TPs (transponders) and verify that you are getting signal AND quality on the "LIVE" ones. To check which transponders are LIVE on T5, go to http://sadoun.com/Sat/Channels/telst...frequencie.htm
