Fortec Channel Programming

Hello.

I have a Fortec 786v3 receiver. I wish to know if it is possible to add channels by using the remote to insert the PIDs. I couldn't find any options in the menu or anything in the manual that says this can be done.

I can add channels using the serial interface and software from Fortec which allows me to add PIDs. However, it would be nice to just use the remote sometimes to do this.

Thanks.

Paul

Re: Fortec Channel Programming

The Fortec 786v3 can't accept manual PIDs. Too bad. I have this receiver too.

Using the software and a PC is the only way you can enter manual PIDs.

what is the purpose of entering manual pids? Doesn't it just pick it up in the TP?

I have wondered that myself...I think it is simply a value-added feature for Supreme Satellite Geeks

Some channels require manual PIDs, meaning receiver can't scan them in.
Some sat providers do this on purpose in order to hide their channels so we can't "see" them.

another reason

News feeds are not always active. So, when you scan them you won't get a channel added to the list if the feed is not active.

I have many news feed channels in my Satcruiser which took some time to find because I had to keep searching every day until they became active and could be detected.

I wanted to take the PIDs from the Satcruiser and enter them directly into a Fortec so that I don't have to waste time searching them all over again. When the PIDs are put in manually, it forces the receiver to add the channels to the list, regardless of whether the feed is active or not. Then, when a feed becomes active, the channel is already there and viewable.

Hi Druze.

The PIDs appear on the upper left of the screen when I am in the channel edit part of the menu and looking at a particular channel on my Satcruiser. They are sometimes listed on sites such as Lyngsat or SatcoDX. Even those sites don't always give PIDs for feeds.
