Can't find a satellite anywhere

Hi I'm living in Seattle WA 98103.
I have 36" dish, Fortec star DVB786v3 receiver, Stab HH100 motor and Fortec Star Universal Sigle LNBF.

My lartitude is 47.6 and longtitude 122.32. For tilt the LNB is 0 becouse is motor.
P is 35.3 azimuth 180 dish elevation 22.9.

I'm can't find any satellites. Anywhere I point to, I get in the range of 50-70% for signals, but nothing for quality. The wierd thing about it is that even if I point it to location opposite of where the satellite is supposed to be, I get the same readig.

I've put the dish on a plumb post and I even took the motor off to see if that made a difference, and nothing.

Any ideas?

Re: Can't find a satellite anywhere

1. Make sure you set everthing correctly:
Dish elevation
H-H mount elevation
LO for lnbf
+/- magnetic deviation to the azimuth.
Use an active trasponder for tuning the dish

Success!

Thanks! I finally got it to work. The secret is that you should not trust the strength indicator on the receiver. Just point it in the general direction and move very very very very slowly.

Yes, that's the trick -- very small movements.

Good work.
