Adding new Transponders to 5900 receiver

Here is a couple of ways to add new transponders for KU-Telstar 5 (IA5) satellite using the Fortec Star 5900 receiver

Quick Way:
  1. Go to MENU
  2. You will see CHANNEL SEARCH menu
  3. Scroll down to MANUAL then click <OK> on remote
  4. Scroll down to FREQUENCY
  5. While on Frequency scroll right to the frequency table
  6. Select 12122H22000
  7. <OK>
  8. Scroll down to SCAN MODE and select ALL CHANNELS
  9. Scroll down to NETWORK SEARCH and select ENABLE
  10. <OK>
  11. The scan will start and will identify some of the new transponders that were not listed in the receiver before.
  12. When scan is completed, select YES to save.
  13. Click EXIT twice on remote
  14. Turn receiver OFF then ON using power button on remote.
Manual Long Way:
  1. Go to MENU
  2. You will see CHANNEL SEARCH menu
  3. Scroll down to TP LIST then click <OK> on remote
  4. Scroll up on satellites list until you reach 263 KU-Telstar 5
  5. While on 263 KU-Telstar 5 scroll right to the frequency table
  6. Click <OK>. You will see a pop up menu asking you to Delete,Edit,Add
  7. Scroll down to ADD, then click <OK>
  8. Eneter new Transponder data for each each transponder
  9. <OK>
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 again for every transponder you want to add
  11. Click EXIT on remote
  12. Click YES to save
  13. This will take you back to main MENU
  14. Scroll down to AUTOMATIC
  15. Select 1-KU-Telstar 5
  16. Scroll Left
  17. Select SCAN ALL CHANNEL or SCAN FREE CHANNELS
  18. The scan will start and will identify the channels.
  19. When scan is completed, select YES to save.
  20. Click EXIT twice on remote
  21. Turn receiver OFF then ON using power button on remote.

Good info.
I can only add that for Globecast transponders Quick Way will work,
For other providers (RRSat, PITCOMM)- sorry - need to perform a Long Way

That is right. GlobeCast has the most amount of TP and they send the NIT data with their TP info. So "Quick Way" Network scan will work great for them.
