Red face Fortec Star Mercury II with BSC621-2 C\KU LNB

I have a new Mercury II receiver which I am trying to use with the BSC621-2 LNBF. The problem I am having is the KU band is not working.
C band is fine, several satellites so far on C band. I have tried all settings
in the Ant setup but still no luck. When I switch back to my old KU LNBF
KU band works fine. The manual states that band switching is accomplished by the DiSEqC control from the receiver. Has anyone else
with the Mrecury II receiver had a problem like this? I also tried using my
old Fortec Star 786 but with same results. Should you do a factory reset
when changing LNBF's? Thanks, Jerry

My setup here is:
Fortec Mercury II
Fortec 120CM dish
Stab HH120

I have a Lifetime Ultra and BSC-621-2 LNBF

Make sure that 22khz is turned on, LNB power is set to on.
Also that it is set to "Universal" and freq is 10600.

You should be seeing Ku on Diseqc port 2. (C band is on port 1)

I assume you hooked up the jumper cable between the back port on the lnb and [the port that does not say "REC"] (rec goes to your receiver)

and no dont do factory reset. It should switch between C and Ku just fine.

Yes I had 22 khz turned and LNB power also on and set for universal. However, I did not specify 10,600 since this is already spelled out in the
universal setting. I also had KU set up on port 2. The jumper is hooked up
as you just described. Also just to make sure that I did not have a bad LNB I bought a second BSC621-2 ...Same results. I am wondering if the
Mercury II will work with the 621-2... Jerry

check and make sure your center wire on your jumper didn't get bent over loosing contact. should be no problem using this lnbf with the MercuryII.

also try taking the jumper out of the equation and run the ku side straight to the receiver.

The jumper is ,ok checked this the first day. I also tried hooking direct but still going through the HH120. In the Ant setup When you select Univ LNB
9750,10600 the 0/22 khz switches to auto and becomes "grayed out".

just a thought you are on a ku sat and not a cband only sat?

I have tried my old Fortec 786 same results. I also have a Pansat 330 I guess I should try it to. I have a friend who has a Mercury II and the
BSC621-2 and he is having the same problem.

I will be glad to. I will try the Pansat maybe tomorrow if I don't get rained out. Having the 0/22khz switch going to auto maybe the problem. It looks like you need to be able to select when you want it on or off. But as I said early on when in Univ LNB it goes to the auto mode. I will try to get in touch with Fortec if I don't get it resolved

I don't think the 22khz switch is the problem it is suppose to go to auto to switch the low and high band of the universal lnbf.

I guess we need someone else to try the same setup. Maybe they could tell us what to do. Jerry

Well Rainman, Looks like I had sucess today. I reinstalled the BSC621-2 and went through the Ant setup and was able to get KU going. The setup is as follows: LNB univ 0/22khz will be grayed out and in auto.
DISEqc 1.1
LNB 2
PORT 2
Setup for C band : LNB 5150
0/22khz on
DISEqc setting seems to make no difference
LNB setting seems to make no dfference
PORT setting seems to make no difference
It is not automatic when looking at a sat that is C/KU. If you change to a channel that is C band you have to go back to the ANT Setup and change the LNB to 5150. Also it is a little slow when changing channels
from one that is vertical to one that is horizontal. Still not to much to do
considering this type of LNB. I was just happy to get it going.....Jerry

glad to here you got it going Jerry if you would add a c band sat as well as a ku sat it should switch bands automaticaly example IA5k and IA5c just use the same location for the sats.

I tried that too Rainman. It switches fine when going from a c-band to a ku-band sat,but when you are switching from c to ku onthe same sat it does not work.

Reinhold.
I dont understand what you mean by this.

I have defined both types as Rainmain said - Ia5Ku and Ia5Cband and it works just fine. I can select each sat and it switches between them.

I have mine set to "Standard" and 10600 on the freq as the universal is kinda pointless in the USA (or as Ive read...)
If turn off/on the 22khz and the signal drops out.

So I dont know... it works pretty good for me with my Ultra.

If I knew I'd get better results with a 6 foot dish, I'd like to try out the new Motek positioner with this LNB. use the 4 footer for Ku only.

But I dont have the $600 it would take to get all the stuff.
