fortec 5900 help!! can't get vietnamese chanel

Hi

Please help, i tuned in telstar5 ku just fine , but can't get 11960 tp14 frequency on this fortec receiver. Please help

That is a weak transponder. Make sure your dish is very accurately aimed and try adjusting the LNB skew and focal length. If that does not work you will need a bigger dish.

as kat said that is a very weak transponder people with a dish under 36" are having trouble receiving it.also i am pulling that TP in at 11966. 11960 is for TP 13 see LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite for info.

but the coolsat4000 from my friend received just fine. Is there a way to manually input the transponder?

don't have the fortec 5900 but should be able to put it in manually.

Yes, you can manually input the transponder data - I forget how to do it with the 5900 as I've only installed a handful of that model - but its a real nice unit. I suspect you won't have any luck manually inputting the VTV4 transponder data - it still won't pull in the signal. I suggest you try bringing your friend's receiver to your house and connect it to your dish. Then try to see is the Coolsat brings in VTV4.

Just re-read your post. Did you already try that? If so, then yes, try inputting the transponder data. Pay particular attention the the FEC setting - if its adjustable on the 5900 - not all receivers allow this but I have found that an incorrect FEC setting makes the difference between zero signal and good signal.
