hh 100 motor and west satellites from northern east usa

anyone can answer can you track the 97 west to 123 west satellites from norh east USA since the hh100 motor pointing south you can turn the motor 60 west while the telstar 5 is 97 west the motor stops beFore reaching 97 west. so can we or cant we track those satellites and if yes how shall we point the rotor so that it can reach 123 degres west..my reciever is usuals compatible with the DiSEqc system all from sadoun.

To calculate the limits look at your location's Lat and Longitude.

Go here to find lat/long: http://sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/S...ion-Angles.htm

Let's say your Longitude was 74 West

That means Telstar 5 is only 23 Degrees (97-74) West of you.
Galaxy 10R is 49 degrees west of you (123 - 74)

In either case your HH100 should be able to point in these directions.

Re: hh 100 motor and west satellites from northern east usa

Telstar5 is viewable in all states.
Where do you live?
1: you need to know the Lat/Long of your location
2: Your due south sat azimuth = your Long
For example: San Francisco, Long 122.4, due south sat is G10R at 123W
3: Your due south sat is the highest one and at the center. Stab ration angles is +-50 deg from the center. Let pick G10R is the duesouth in San Francisco, the Stab can move the dish from 73W to 157W.
Good luck

hh 100 motor and west satellites from northern east america

Thank you for your support .You answered my question and it did work.I am tracking all the satelites between 79 west and 123 west degrees from Montreal with your hh 100 motor with DiSEqc and USUALS compatible system. My south was not well calculated. The 95 97 and 123 degree west satellites are quiet good. But I have a question about the other satellites sometimes there is a picture without sound and sometimes there is a sound without picture what do you think the reason is .This is a good hobby and I will continue to track other satellites in due time and will let you know about my progress .Hoping to hear from you soon.

Re: hh 100 motor and west satellites from northern east amer

Which sat is your due south? It looks like your mount does not track the arc correctly. It's either the elevation of the dish or the mount is a bit high or low.
Check out the link below for instruction of how to align the dish. It is for C-band but still applies for Ku dish.
http://www.geo-orbit.org/sizepgs/tun...l#anchor807714
After reading it and you get confused, forget it...:-)
The only thing you should check is the diagram "Philosophy of Tuning Dish to Satellite Arc"

magnetic south and my south satellite

thank you michael for your interest in the subject .you were asking me my due south satellite which is galaxy 12 -- 74 degree west.Is this my magnetic south too or is it to calculate which satellites I can track.I still have difficulty to view some satellites which are sometimes audio without video and vice versa I want to know if I am pointing my dish in the right direction south my longitude is 73.6 my latitude 45.5.Shall I point my dish to 180 plus 14 degrees or 180 degrees minus 14 degrees.thank you any answer is appreciated.

Re: magnetic south and my south satellite

Check out the link below for magnetic deviation.
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...Calculator.htm
G12 is C-band. Try to get a lock on SBS6.
Once you get lock on SBS6, then move your dish to the furthest EAST/WEST sats. If you are sucessful to get lock for SBS6, furthest EAST and WEST, your dish should get locked on the rest of the sats.
Do you have analog receiver? If so, use it to tune your dish at SBS6. Usually, there is at least one active analog xponder on this sat.

hi!
I have a fortec star hh 100 motor with diseqc and usual compatible system I dont know the difference between analogue or digital systems tell me what I have.
second question Michael tells me to lock on sbs6 as my southern satellite unfortunately there is a barriere (a tree) in front of me which doesnt let me have the lock but I have a lock on 79 , 87 , 89 , 91 , 95 , 97 , 99 , 101 , 123 * west satellites all of these have one or several chanels on them but I have also locks on 85 , 103 , 105 , 107 , 116.8 * west but I cant see any video although signal is 80% and quality is 95% and more but no video is this normal. For example SATMAX 116.8 is locked the channels are unnamed (what does this mean) free 100% quality but no video .Is this an alignement or another technical problem. Another example is AMC1 AT 103*West I have a signal of 74% FREE a green screen but nothing as video is this normal. Another example is amc2 at 105* west UNNAMED FREE CHANNELS 10 of them but no video.Any explanation will be appreciated.

Perhaps the channels you can't view are not FTA. Check out lyngsat.com
to see what they are.

FTA/encrypted status change all the time. Channels might be FTA yesterday but encrypted today. It usually takes lyngsat and other sides few days to update the info.
Give me the freq, I can check the status for you.

I didnt think that lyngsat takes so long to update the channels for example satmax at 116.8*west at 12080 h 25635 3/4 should be free and anik f1 at 107.3 *west at 11850 h 15554 3/4 is free on the lyngsat list.the question is I lock them but I dont see any video.

I am very supprised when you can get lock on 11850, F1, since it beams to S.America.
About the Satmex mux, some of them are encrypted. Make sure you try to FTA one.
I have no problem with the Satmex.
