Boy you will need a BIG toilet to flush this receiver.

Seriously, did you mean flash? Check www.fortecstar.com download section. No 3rd party software is tolerated or discussed here.

Yes, that's what he meant -- I just didn't want to use the "F" word...

Better you than me... hehehe

Remember on that short-lived reality show, "America's Greatest Inventor," they had a guy trying to sell this raincoat outfit that supposedly allowed you to 'go to bathroom' inside the outfit if you couldnt have a place quickly.hahahah... it was a bust and the judges right-fully rejected the idea..hahah.. it was so ridiculous to watch the guy demonstrate it.

On a serious note, how safe is it to flash a receiver unless there is some sort of a problem?

The receivers Sadoun sells are supposed to come with the latest firmware revision. That being said, unless there is some overwhelming reason to do so, is it really safe to do this?

I wouldn't unless you can't get anything with your receiver. and remember it voids your warranty on your receiver.

Be cautious about any upgrades in firmware. I did the software upgrade from Fortec required to edit channels on the Platinum and only made of mess of everything (channel wise). Receiver works fine but had to do a factory reset to clean up all the problems it caused and input everything all over again.

I've upgraded the software on all my boxes with no issues. The Classic & Ultra were the easiest to do.

I dont understand why the warranty is voided if you download the software form Fortec directly

I've also flashed my Ultra a couple times.
First was to fix the motor movement issue when I first got it years ago, and 2nd was just a couple months back. The latest one didnt make any change that I could tell anyway.

I've also flashed a Lifetime-NA model. It did not come from Sadoun with the latest firmware. This flash updated the list of transponders, satellites, etc with more current information.

Iceberg, not many people have 19,000 posts under their belt or knowledgeable as you are in working with their receiver software update.

Also, this is a deterrent for some people not to use 3rd party software.
