KU and C-Band at the same time??
Just got my system going. And it is the coolest thing. I picked up alot of KU channels on a few satellites. But of course, I wanted more. I was looking at Lyngsat and noticed alot more channels that are in the C-Band. Is there a way that I can take that 229 Package from Sadoun and make it recieve both KU and C-Band channels?? Maybe change the LNBF?? Or would I have to change the dish also?? Am I being too greedy?? Thanks Guys!

Check LNBF #1 here: http://sadoun.com/Sat/Order/LNBFS/C-Band-LNBF.htm
Which dish size you have? Some are successful pulling c/KU band signal using a 120cm offset dish.

as Sadoun said some has got some c band signal with the 1.2 meter dish but I would recommend a 6 ft dish or larger for c band.

I have the 31 inch dish. So from my understanding, I would have to get a bigger dish along with the LNBF. Hmmm.... I may have to ponder on that. Just wish they had kind of great channels on KU as they do on C. But, I am not complaining one bit because it is still awesome.. Thanks, for the replies!

First thing I would do is up your present dish to a 36". The difference is considerable.

Played around last week with my 31" dish and quad LNB (not C band) and pulled in quite a few C band stations.Mostly they are douplicates of KU,but I was amazed I got anything with my totally wrong equipment.

You are NOT receiving C-band. You cannot receive C-band unless you have a C-band LNB. The thing is, that a C-band LNB converts 3700-4200 MHz, and sends it to your receiver in the 950-1450 band. Your Ku LNB sends the 11700-12200 (or different band for universal lnbfs) band down on the same 950-1450 band. So your receiver can't tell the difference between a C-band signal and a Ku signal. When you set your receiver to either C or Ku, it is just setting the calculation for the LO freq, but it is still looking for the signals in the same 950-1450 MHz band.
So the reason you are getting duplicates is because they are the same Ku signals.
Sorry. I know you were probably happy to be getting C-band, but that's not the case.

Would the new DirecTv HD dish work for this? It is an oblong one instead of round like my 31"?

All comes down to surface area of the dish.

I have the 120cm dish and the C/Ku dual LNB.
Although it's possible to receive some of the stronger C band signals, even with this 4 footer, some of the C band stuff just doesnt come in. THere are some network feeds that don't give a peep on this. The dish simply isn't big enough.
So be advised although it works this way, it's a compromise and should be considered a hobby solution for C band.

So, I suppose a 16' would do better?
I'll be lucky to get permission for a 3 to 4 foot! On a serious note, I guess even with the proper LNB, I would not even get a hair from my 80cm, right?

If you reside in the US you do not need permission for anything 1m or less. So a 36" dish does not require permission. If you are a renter it would probably keep good relations to discuss it first though I would not imagine you getting any C band on a 80cm. I was totally shocked anyone was getting anything on a 4' dish but as those that play have stated it is very limited.

I dont think I'd call it "very limited".
I'm limited by what sats I have visablility to with my 4 footer, and only have Fortec for C-band DVB and Analog receiver, so no DCII for me.
I did post a while back what I could get on C band with the 120cm dish, I cant find it right now. I went over to Lyngsat and looked thru the C band stuff and from memory, on C band I get:
AMC 6 - PA cable network
AMC 3 - TVU and University network
G11- CW East/West/Central, EWTN (looks like some new stuff I havent seen on DVB and scanned for yet)
IA6- TenMax,TenXtasy (scrambled but could get them if I paid)
Independent Film Channel - I actually subcribe to that to activate my VCII decoder for $6/year. Comes in pretty good.
WE channel was in the clear last week, looked really good too.
G16 - sheperds channel, Buena Vista feeds, Fox, ABC feeds
AMC4- golden eagle broadcasting, Gods learning channel
AnikF1- Canada weather channel
There are a few more feeds in there that are come and go, so I dont remember what sat those are on. All of these are actually workable, watchable channels, analog and digital.
There's a lot of C band stuff more west than I can see. Neighbor 2 doors down has a BMF tree right in my way. I was hoping the fluke snow storm we had in October would have wiped it out (it's well over 70ft up) but I didnt get lucky in that regard.

The "permission" I was speaking of is that of my wife!

My DSR922 shows something like 4500-5000 available channels. What you list is what I would call very limited
