Fortec Mercury II. Component video and Svideo don't work.

I just purchased a new Mercury II. I wanted to use it's component video output because I have on extra input in my HDTV set that I wanted to use for this purpose. Unfortuantely I found out that both the component video and the SVido outputs on my new set do not work.
The component video gives me a balck and white pictue and the svido does not output anything.

I don't know if my set is defective. Should I exchange it under warrenty?
or is this a problem with all Mercury II sets. Let me know if your sets work.

I tried to swap component video cables, just in case they were mislabeled. I know the cable works because if I plug it into the DVR it works fine. .
