Fortec Star FSMCI-6000 UCAS interface question.

Hi there people,

I got one question for you guys, when you buy this receiver does the UCAS interface come with the necessary software or do I have to program it to work with Nagravision???

If it needs to be program, can it be done through a firmware update of the STB or do I have to get a programmer and program the UCAS interface like a Magic Module ???

I'd really like to sort this matter out because this STB is quite interesting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another question:

Can you get circular polarization (Dish Network) with an universal LNB ???

According to some yes (http://www.netcentral.co.uk/satcure/circular.htm) , but from what I've seen here on this forum no.

Thanks for your time, and your respond.

1. You need UCAS interface/programmer + software to update the firmware. STB is just for channel editing through PC. Personally bought one 6000CI not knowing that it needs additional hardware/software to use the UCAS feature. The problem is I don't know where to get the interface/programmer. It has been almost a year and still looking...

2. No, universal lnb is not compatible with Nagra.

Since EchoStar 7 is Dish network, how can we pick up their FTA radio stations with a universal LNB? I also show the channels (but scrambled of course) when I scan that satellite. (using Fortec's Universal LNB).

pick up a used circular lnb and attach it to the existing one you will then get those audio channels. Do a search on audio on this thread; you will find steps by steps on how to do it.

But what I am saying is that I am getting them already with a universal so why do you need the circular?

You mean you actually hear the music with the universal lnb? Not in my case.

Yes!
Radio channels.
They call them channels 900 - 980.
2 classicals, 3 country western, big band, and various modern ones.
If you like, I will post transponder info.
Also............Echostar 6,8 I get 3 video channels. 1 "Welcome to Dish Network", 2 Spanish language sports. - no radio on those birds for me at least.

Jason, As promised.............
Echostar-7
TP= 12268 (H), SR= 20000, A= 4096,4100,4101,4102
TP= 12297 (H), SR= 20000, A=4096
TP= 12326 (H), SR= 20000, A=4096,4097,4098,4099,4100,4101,4102,4103
TP=12268 (H), SR=20000, A=4098

During the TP scan I locked in 40 Nagravision encrypted video channels (Dish Network). This shows the channel "names" as the actual names (example: HBO East) not as the number (example: channel 685). On other birds that have "packages" they show up as channel numbers usually.

It is true BUT you can't get all circular xponders using universal lnbf.
The reason why you can get few DishNet xponders because some circular xponders overlap with the universal freq coverage.
Good luck

So, that explains it! Thanks!
I think that the "poll" question above then should include a "sometimes" answer :lol:

DishNet signal is pretty strong. You can attach a DishNet/DTV lnbf right or left next to your universal lnbf, then use a Diseqc or 0/22khz switch to switch between these 2 lnbf.
Remember, circular LO is 11250
Good luck
