The satellites reside above the equator which would make them at 0 latitude. www.lyngsat gives you location of each sat (longitude). I do not understand your other isuues. Were you supposed to be pointed at 97? If not telling the receiver to do something will do nothing. Your dish is pointed at the wrong location. What satellite are you trying to receive? Motorized or stationary system? What type of receiver?

If you are looking for the Vietnamese channel its called VTV4 and it is on IA5; make sure that you have the receiver transponder data set as follows:
frequency = 11,966
polarity = HOR
symbol rate = 22,000
Also make sure your receiver LNB setting matches the LNB you have (ie: standard or universal).

changing
I have Fortec Star, lifetime classic na reciever, 3 foot dish.I had my reciever set for VTV4. I changed my reciever from satellite search to channels. I didn't have VTV4 any more but IA5, with arabic channels. My location is latitude30.412186 my longitude is86.712719 which is in Mary Esther, FlMy Dish is pointing to about 190w degrees.43 degrees angle. The motor is set at 33 degrees Latitude. The best signal is with LNB set at 6 oclock verticle. The reciever is set on 1A5, TP setting is 11.901 V 22000. this gives me a signal strength of 13 to 26 but not solid, they are bouncing. Where do I go from here please ?

Looks like you have low signal on the horizontal side. 11966H is somehow weak transponder. Try to move the motor manually (Slow) to see if you can get better signal.

once you get a lock on the sat you want do a transponder scan for the channels you want or do a blind scan(power scan) to see what transponders is a vaiable.

Fortec Star Problems
I have a Fortec Star, Lifetime Classic NA Reciever, Standard LBN, 3 foot dish. My Antenna Setup is as follows. Name TK5U (72.0W). TP Frequency 11.966-H-22.000. LBN UNI, set at about 5.30. LBN Power 13/18. 22 KHz AUTO. Positioner Set (V1.2). Diseqc 2. Sat Lock Off. Scan Mode FTA Only. Network Search On. I have a Lock On, 73% to 80% in yellow. My location is Latitude 30.41219, Longitude 86.71272. My problem is with the reciever. Looking at the moniter or TV screen I saw a lock of 73% to 80%. I left the setup screen and went to Channels screen. The reciever changed from TK5U to 1A5ku. The 1A5 is not locked. I need to know how to change the reciever to accept TK5U. In the list of satellites 1A5U has a heart beside it. How can I add a heart to TK5U or remove the heart from 1A5U. I have read all of the forums and can not find this problem addressed. Please help. My Wife wants me to Get rid of the satellite. HELP

I don't think I have ever been quite so confused with respect to what a poster was asking and trying to do.
First...... I'm still not even sure that it's clear as to what channel you are trying to receive, is it the VTV4 that Bobcat suggested? If so, that is on the satellite you are trying to get rid of, so why do you want to delete it?
Also, is this a channel that you WERE watching, but now can't receive, or are you trying to pick it up for the first time? If you HAVE watched it before, the channel is probably still saved, so you can probably just keep hitting channel up/down until you find it. If you have never received it yet, have you tried what Rainman said in the message right before your last post?? This should scan in a bunch of channels on the sat, including the one you were locked on.
I don't understand what you mean when you say:
"Name TK5U (72.0W). TP Frequency 11.966-H-22.000"
Ie there is no sat called TK5U, and I don't think that the sat at 72.00W (AMC6) has a 11.966/22.000 transponder. So if you were locked on a transponder with those parameters, I'd guess that the sat you think you are locking, and the sat you say you can't lock are both the same sat, ie IA5 (Also,it is IA5, not 1A5)
You said above that you had a standard LNBF and then you said you have a "UNI" lnbf.... which is it???? Which LNBF do you have, and do the settings in the receiver match your hardware?
You said you are using a motor, and you said you have set your lnbf at 5:30. You shouldn't have the lnbf at 5:30 if you are using a motor. This suggests to me that you have never gone through all the initial setup steps, ie finding your due south sat and aligning your mount. I'm also guessing that you have never saved a sat location or anything, and that your dish just happens to be sitting on IA5, and never moves off that sat. It sounds like you just moved your dish around until you saw a signal, and skipped all the alignment steps.
If by chance I'm right, then I think you need to start over and align your mount, and in the process you'll save a lot of channels, including the one you want, whatever that is.
If I'm wrong, then I don't know how it ever got set up without you knowing what sat you are on, or how to change sats, etc. But I think you have to first figure out what channel you want to view, ie find it on Lyngsat, find the freq/SR , then go to the TP scan page, and find that satellite and transponder, wait for a lock and hit scan...... Or do what Rainman said.
Anyway, I'm confused.
