Mercury II Main Menu!!
How do I get the Main Menu on my Mercury II to come up.
I know you are surpose to just hit the menu button which shows the four sub menus.
At first I did have the Main Menu.
Now everytime that I hit Menu it goes straight to the sub menu of Installation!
I have tried reset to factory defaults.
(I've just hooked up my system last night. I've got five sats locked in so far. I will be relocating to a pole in a couple of days.)
thanks

I am not familiar with your particular receiver but have a Coship that does the same thing until all installation info has been input that the receiver desires. I would think one stored sat would do it though unless it did not store the sat.

Well how about simply powering down and unplugging for 5 minutes?

i did unplug it when i moved it from my doorway (after getting signal) all the way back across the room to it's location. (it seem to hold memory)
but, i'm gonna try to set a pole tonight (maybe) depends on if i can figure out what all sats i can get from my location and at what elev. so i can skip away from my one tree in the front yard. (that will give some time with receiver unplug and reset back to defaults again)
would you know by any chance which birds i should be able to get from my location, oklahoma zip 74937 Latitude 34.89N Longitude 94.6W
would it be most likely (only) the one's listed for north america at: lyngsat.com or can I pick up more. As rocky as my ground is, I don't want to move the pole afterwards. I've thought about a temp pole, but since I don't get about 2 hours a day to test it, and that it might take a few weeks before I figure out what all sats I should be able to get from my location and at what angles. so far i've got on my unstable temp setup: IA5, IA6, AMC4, GALAXY3C, and GALAXY11. I have a few areas around 75ft from the house to where I will have a full view from east to west, rather stay closer unless necessary.
also i thought that i'd seen a post here somewhere about you can click on the sat's logo or something at lyngsat.com and it will take you somewhere to show you a graphic map for which area can receive that bird!?
thanks

For future reference, I'm curious what you did to get it back to normal? I haven't been following this thread, since I don't have that receiver, but I was starting to think you might have a problem with your remote control. Ie on my first Fortec receiver, the remote control had a tendency to have the buttons stick on, so it was hard to push the button just once, and you'd often go further into a menu tree than you wanted to. I'm just curious if it was something like this??? If not, how did you cure the problem?

I left the unit unplug from the power for awhile.
Ok goods news..
Last night I set my pole (Lots of blisters). It's around 80 to 90 feet out.
Then I read some good post on this forum till around 2am.
I wrote all my c alculations down.
This morning I did a 20 min hurry job.
I put the dish on the pole and set for true south made all adjustments.
Then went in and told receiver to find IA5. -Not more then 4% so I went out and adjusted the dish while listening to the beep. Boom got it.
Then I went in and tried for G10. No signal. So I went out and did the flex test. Signal was just slight to east. Made the adjustment, went inside, scan for G10 channels, tested channels then went back to IA5, then to G3C. All fell in place. Will have to test the other channels when I get home. (I do have a question on Hispasat, but will start a new thread)
Again Thanks

You may not be able to get Hispasat from your location. About 60 degrees movement is all I seem to be able to get from a motor regardless of advertised sweep.

When ever I select the Hispasat, the dish does not move?
I've tried the other day when I had it temp setup for several sats in the east, and the motor would never turn to the east. The limit lock is disable and I'm trying usuals. Now if i use the disq then I can manually turn the dish to far east? (I had no time to see if manual to pick up anything, I'm at work now)
Any sugestions? Also what sat far east should I try for?
Thanks

No east movement at all? From your location I would be looking at 43 or something in that neighborhood

Other than the sats I've listed, I haven't hit anything east. Will try later this evening. I've tried about 3 to the east and it seems the motor don't want to leave the position that it is currently on to go east.

Ok got home, dish tried to move hispasat (east move) only once. It moves for the others.
Now it just usually sits in which ever the last position instead of trying (though I do believe that bird is out of my reach, but I don't know if my receiver knows that?)
I am getting some east birds. Here is a list of All I can get so far (not including echo birds didn't think they had any free)
IA5, IA8, IA6, IA7, G10, G3C, AMC4, AMC9, AMC6, AMC5, AMC3, AMC1, AMAZONAS -61 degrees, SB6, SATMEX5, PAS35, PAS9,NIMIQ1/3
so my low is Pas3R at 43 and my high is IA7 at 129.
Other than G4R and Satmex6 am I missing anyothers?

My receiver is suppose to be able to do a blind search! I don't remember seeing anything in the menu for it?

Ok, when I add new sat. it won't let me edit the freqs.
so i found out that if i go to (for example) G4R in sat setup and hit PScan (power scan)
even if i don't get a signal on all current freqs.
that it will search for all (new and old) freqs.
I've got 2 chnls from G4R, should be more but that's a start.
Same with Brasilsat B3 84 degrees. Can't edit freg. (or select more than one) I do a Pscan, then when it find freqs then it will auto do a chnls search. Then it will add the new freqs and you can then select through them.
I quess Pscan is blindsearch?
I now got some on Satmex6 some is pixelating. I have around 70sig. I not getting very many channels this way!
I wonder is a dish bigger then my 90 would help much?
again thanks

Yes Power scan is the blind search. And the behavior above is normal. What the blind scan does is look for transponders, and when it finds them it adds them to your transponder list, which means that you will have old ones and new ones. THEN, it uses your transponder list (old and new), and does a satellite search, meaning it searches all transponders in the transponder list for channels.

Why do you say that it should be more? There is really not much to view on the Ku side of G4R (G16) . What channels were you expecting to find? Most of the transponders there are either DCII, (which you can't lock or view), or are data channels (which you can lock, and the transponders should be saved, but which won't scan in any channels). There is a scrambled MUX, which will scan in channels in the "all" mode, but you can't view them (other than a test pattern), plus there are a couple transponders where you find occasional feeds, and a couple unlisted transponders (a couple religious channels), but really not much there.
It's been a while since I tried the Ku side of that sat, so I'm not positive what is there, but you probably found most of what was there at the time.
