New to FreeToAir scene

He everyone,

I thought about geting into the hobby of fta several times but have back out for not knowing which system I should get. (which receiver, motor, lnb etc.)

I'm 'bout to the point I'm ready to order a system.

Can anybody tell me what type of motorize system would be good for southeast oklahoma?

I don't want to buy something and find out that I should have..." "

I am a regular installer for sat tv and internet, so the setup shouldn't be all that bad.

Just trying to decide.. I would like to be able to pick up any true fta from anywhere that I can, without having to have a c-band size dish.

Can anyone please give me some pointers? Is any of the systems here at sadoun without having to change dish sizes or motor types alright to just jump right in?

Simply said yes any of the systems sold at Sadoun's is fine. Naturally the larger the dish the better the picture quality so going with a larger dish is always a good thing but I am having no problems with a 76cm.

Try to stick with a receiver that has blind search and USALS. If you go with a receiver from Fortec and it is designated with NA it will be preprogrammed for North America. Not everything but a good start.

Motor will be governed by dish size but the SG2100 is supposed to do the 120cm dish so getting a smaller dish would be less load on the motor which in theory should help prolong motor life. Price is comparable.

I'm now looking at the M-2 on this site. Should I upgrade the lnbf or is the one that comes with it good enough? Also, I thought about selecting the 90u upgrade.

Personally, I'd get the larger dish, and the Invacom SNH031 lnbf, it has a better noise figure . My only regret so far is in not getting a larger dish.

If you are able to receive a signal from Atlantic birds, in very rare occasions you may need a lower band (below 11.7 GHz) of your Universal LNB, so you should be fine with a "Standard" LNB too. IF you want to connect a second receiver and watch it independently, you may want a "dual" LNB. If you want to have both linear and circular LNBs, you may attach one to another and put them through DiseqC switch, or you can buy Invacom LNB that does both

It all depends, where you are.
At my location I am happy with 76cm dish: signal is very clear, and I never before had such a quality picture! I can compare UWTV from Dish with same program on G10R, and I see a difference!

You live in San Jose ! You could get G10R with a tin can and string from there ! :-)

If I still lived in New Joisy I'd be thinking of a 1M dish , for sure.

AdamHannah.. I'm just above you. I'm south of Heavener in the Hawcreek community. Let me know how it goes. I'm getting ready to place my order, I can't wait, but I'm trying not to order crazy and get the wrong thing. Which makes it worst when you want to just hop in on the fun.

I'm in Virginia. Anyone know what size motorized FTA dish I should get to get AMC-4? Also can I get KUIL -Fox out of Beaumont TX for free? How about KASA- Fox and KRQE- CBS out of Albuqurerque NM Free?

A 76 cm dish should be sufficient. KUIL is no problem; it's one of the stronger signals on the Ku band. KASA and KRQE are no-gos...both are on C-band and both are encrypted.

There are other local stations to watch, particularly on Galaxy10R; some are tough to pull in, others (like KTWO-ABC Casper WY) are quite strong. With UPN going away (some stations become CW, some "My Network", others RTN, still others just plain independents, it will be interesting to see what the choices will be like.
