SatMex5 in SC

I am slowly but surely getting my Fortec Ultra programmed. I have programmed in satellites from AMC5 to AMC1. The next satellite I was looking for was SatMex5 at 116.8W. I could not find any active signal quality in my search. My long/sat is 82W and 35N (Duncan SC).

Is the SatMex5 signal beamed into my area? If so, if anyone could provide a transponder, SR and polarity, I would appreciate it.

I had a chance to look for SatMex5 earlier than planned and here is how it went. I put in rainman's freq/SR/Pol and went looking. Never did find anything. I did find it however after adjusting my true south (azimuth) just a small amount. I went on to find G10 after that without any problems. Went back to Nimiq2 (my southern most satellite) and I had to make a small adjustment on it and a few more at the higher elevation.

Bottom line, is that after I am beginng to feel I am very close to being on the arc since I now have AMC5 (79W) through G10(123W) all coming in with a 60% quality or better. Actually 60% is the lowest and most run in the high 70's and low 80's. Don't remember which ones, but a few came in showing upper 90's.

With your location you should easily be able to get down as far as 30 (Hispasat) on the east. Once you have a good trac from 30 to 123 you will have a great arc Sounds as though you have a pretty good lock on the arc now.

Hi elgemcdlf, I was just going to post a question about the satellites to the east and west. My question was to be what would be the satellite most east and west I should be able to pick up.

I have put in SBS6 since I last posted but had no idea a 30W satellite was obtainable. Looks like I have a lot more to put in. I have a good view of eastern sky, but my SG2100 may hit a limit, not sure yet.

I have just started to notice that some have an LNBF that picks up linear and circular signals. I may upgrade to that later, but now concentrating on just getting a good lock on signals on the arc.

With a location of 82 you should be able to get down to 25 or so but if memory serves me right there are no US beams after 30.

Well, I found the Hipasat satellite at 30W and it produced quite a few radio and TV services. I don't think I would have gone that far over if you had not posted it was possible. My dish looks to be in an awkard position on this satellite, but I guess not unlike G10 on the other side.

I guess I could try to fill in the big gap now between Hipasat and AMC6.

How about going westward. Is the IA7 at 129W about it or is there more over that way?

there's a few channels on IA7 and G9.White Springs on IA7 shows alot of old westerns.

My best wishes to everybody. I’m totally newbie. I supposedly set up a VS2000 extreme receiver, Fortec Star dish (Model FC-90) Rotor Sat HH90 with a Invacom Quad Polar 40mm horn LNB and aligned it to Echo Star 7. My Lat is 34, Long is 81 (I did play with the elevation with a meter). I could set up the channels but the problem is that practically all the channels are locked. Have I done something wrong or what should I do to unlock them? Can any one help me out here? Thank you in advance.

you wont get nothing fta from dish network if you want their channels subscribe to their programing.

I am using 786v3 receiver, 36" dish, universal LNB in San Diego (Log 117 W Lat 33N).

Can you please let me know how to point to satmax5 (116 degree). What degree I should read on compass to point to satmex5.
