Fortec Mercury II vs Ultra - memory screwup

We've seen posts from folks that have Lifetime Ultra, that as you add new satellites, transponders after a while the programming becomes "confused", and it starts to change settings on it's own.

As I'm now using 120cm dish and combined C and Ku band LNB, I'm filling the Ultra with lots of stations.

Now things start to become wacky, where the unit forgets it was USALS, changes the LNB type, stuff like that.
I realize it's probably a memory limit or bug in the software code.
Yesterday, I reset the box, and put on the latest firmware code from Fortec (my last version was fine, didnt see the need until now)

I guess my question here is, I see on the comparison chart that the new Mercury II unit has lots of memory space for sats, transponders and channels.

Does anyone know if the Mercury II performs as expected, without glitches as the sats & channels fill up? I really hate to spend the money if this issue simply carries over from one box to the next.

Angry Fortec Mercury II vs Ultra - memory screwup

My first problem was several weeks ago when I found out that the clock is not really a clock, but a device that operates on the clock signals coming off the satellite.

On the IA5 satellite you can see the clock change everytime you change the channels. Nobody transmits time signals properly!

Now, my unit will not retain the settings I make to record programming.

Plus, the settings default to 2003!

I think Fortec dropped the ball on this unit. I liked the old unit I had (Lifetime Ultra), and I thought this would be another good unit. But, I am angry about the performance of ths unit.

Somebody better make some changes to this unit and fast.

Mike

I have a Mercury II also

I have to say, I am not impressed with this receiver. I have many remote problems, including it doesn't work with my "cones" signal sender. My old Fortec works just as fast and good. If anyone has tips for me, I will take them into consideration. I can't believe this is the best Fortec can offer.

Just curious, have you tried the remote from the OLD Fortec with the NEW receiver? I have both a Lifetime and a Lifetime ULTRA, and the old Lifetime remote works on the ULTRA, but the new Ultra remote doesn't work on the old Lifetime. Both of these work with my RS Pyramids, which I assume are similar to the "cones" you are talking about. Anyway, you might find that an old Ultra remote might work with the new receiver.

Sorry, tried it, didn't work.

Good thought though.

Bad Remote?

My Mercury II also has inconsistent remote performance. Changed the batteries also. Other than that, I haven't really got to play with the system yet. Can't complain too much yet...I won it on this board.
