Help using pansat 2x1 diseqc w/Lifetime + Stab H-H120

I need some advice for affixing a second lnbf to a h-h mount

First, it's amazing what a difference a level pole makes

I got everything up and running and I'm getting sats from
Hispasat @30w thru gstar4 @105 sats west of 105 are blocked by trees

Signals are coming in strength 75, quality 50-60 across the board,
I have mountains and lots of trees so I guess thats pretty good on a rainy day.

So far I really like the Fortec and The Stab, I was disappointed that
the range of the mount only seems to +/- 55 degrees of arc.

I am using the Fortec Lifetime, Stab h-h120, pansat 2x1 diseqc switch and
pansat .8 standard ku lnbf and directtv lnbf. on a 90cm paraclipse

Port #1 of diseqc seems to work okay w/no signal loss from the .8 ku lnbf.

But I don't seem to be able to get the directtv LNBF to work thru the
diseqc - it was working fine as a stand alone pointed at nimiq2

Also, The Diseqc was working fine as a standalone.
I had to quict due to rain before trying the DBS connected directly.

Oh - I do have the antenna for the Directv setup as 11250 not 10750

Any ideas?

thanks in advance for the help

James

Install the DiSEqC switch after the HH Motor. That means the coax should be uninterupted from the receiver to the HH motor. Out of the HH motor to the LNBF you can split the cable using the DiSEqC switch. One side goes to the stand alone DIRECTV dish/LNBF, and the other to the LNBF mounted on the HH motor. Have you tried that?

Yes that's how I have things hooked up.

The problem may be with my homemade bracket,
If the weather improves I'll experiment today.

Under the diseqc menu, I'm using #1 for the ku lnbf and #2 for the
dbs lnbf, should I use the tone a, tone b instead?

The switch I have is a pansat 2x1 diseqc switch.

Also, by the way your instructions on setup were great, very easy to follow and much better than the manual.

thanks,

Well as I earlier feared it was an ID-10-T error.

It seems when you mount a second lnbf onto a
H-H mount you need to edit the USALS positioning to
account for the additional offset.

who would have thunk it ?

well i was raised in the hills ...

anyway locking dbs birds with a signal of 80 quality of 93 - 99

The diseqc is still behaving clunky, the fortec locks up on E3 @61.5
and won't switch sats, I have to turn off, count to 10, turn back on and it works. It doesn't do this on the nimiq birds

I don't know if it is the recr or the e3 sat.

all in all i am well pleased with the system.

My only gripe is the remote, it sticks and the remote must be in *direct*
as in perpendicular line of sight to work. hopefully forect will resign the remote.

thanks for your help again good system, works as describe very satisfied.

I fear I may have another problem.

everything was working fine but this afternoon, the stab motor seems to
have 'konked' out. the motor will not move and no power seems to be
passing thru the motor to the lnbf.

I hooked the recr to the diseqc switch bypassing the motor, works fine.

I hooked to the lnbf works fine.

the dish is grounded at the pole and the cable is passing thru
a grounding block before getting to the motor or any of the dish components

Stab manual mentions oxidized connectors, after less than a week?
It has been very rainy - but not stormy .

I will try cutting new connections this weekend.

I have used goldplated, screw on type rg6 connectors.
also the 'feedthru' cones are inplace at the connectors.

any suggestions?

Replace those screw on F56's with crimp style or even better, compression type F56 connectors. The screw on connectors are very unreliable -- gold plated or not.

Well, I replace the screw on connector w/compression connectors and
everything seems to be working okay now.

I played a bit with the loop thru connector today, It seems to work as long as the lifetime unit is on.

I have also noticed a lag in switching from diseqc port 1 to port 2 and vice versa. sometimes the reciever needs a bit of help - i.e after the positioner moves, channel up and down. My Kmen also did this may be my diseqc switch I will swap it out and see if there is an improvement.

I've been around sat tv since '88, and installed couple dozen systems big dish to small and thes is the first time I have ever seen new wiring behave in this way - learned something new.

thanks for all the help, as I have said earlier, overall pleased with the lifetime reciever.
