sadoun can you answer my quetion about the ability of fortec star 786 to support Dolby Digital.

Here is a quote from sadoun from another thread...

" The 786NA has an S/PDIF digital output but it does not pass through AC3 datastream only PCM."

That should answer your question.

The 786v3 does not support AC3. Only the Fortec Star LifeTime receiver supports AC3. We have a new f/w upgrade for those who have the LifeTime receiver to enable you to receive the AC3 sound from the PBS stations.

To download new software for the LifeTime go to the download section of www.fortecstar.com

Notice that you will need a straight through female-female serial cable
Use Uploader V 2.4 only
Upload new firmware
After you upload the F/W to the receiver, go to SYSTEM SETUP and do a FACTORY SETTING (master reset)
