85% signal strength, No channels, No signal quality

I am located in Fayetteville Tn, USA. I just purchased a fortec 5900 complete system. I used my signal meter to set my dish but can only get a signal strength of 85% and no, 0%, signal quality. I've tweaked the dish in every direction but still can't get it over 85%. I scan for channels and it won't find any. Is there something that I need to download and install or can someone tell me how to set this thing up? As you probablly have figured out, I'm new at this and have never done this before. Even though, I have set up Direct Tv systems before. They are easy. I thought that these would be about the same. How wrong I was...

do you have a motor? What satellite are you trying to get? What type of lnbf do you have? You're right direct tv and fta aren't related

Don't despair I get high readings pointed at the ground. Start with the basics. Go over every step. Pole plumb? Lined up on true south? Motor elevation set to your latitude? Etc. etc. etc. Check the installation tips area of www.sadoun.com and it should get you on track.
