Platinum NA with CI

I have a Platinum NA with CI. It has an empty bey where a module would be inserted. Presumably these modules would have a slot for a card, right? But the receiver also has TWO card slots beside the empty bay. What does this mean? Does it have a CA onboard then? And all I really need to get is the card(s)? The power scan does take a while. It is slaved to a 4dtv, and so the polarity is controlled thru there. So it pays to do the H and V seperately on the power scan. Also, you need to do seperate one for the KU, so it means FOUR power scans per satellite, and each power scan has 83 steps. Another thing: after a power scan on G0/X0 (G10r C/Ku) it found a bunch of transponders that weren't pre-defined in the receiver and didn't find any that were pre-defined. Actually, what happened was that the frequencies were different and so it looked like new ones. But a lot of the pre-defined ones simply were not found -- even at any other frequency -- so I couldn't find all those local TV stations that Lyngsat has listed on X0. What gives? Is Lybgsat up to date? Is the receiver (and my dish) just not strong enough to get them?

8.5' mesh dish with Chaperral corotor FH, and 15 degree/5db LNBs (but not the highly stable type).

11720 in my experience on G10 is weak or at least when you are lined up for the other TP's it is. Next you should be getting 11800 just fine. If not your dish most likely needs a little tweaking. FTA is very sensitive compared to "normal" C and KU band signal reception. I worked with my big dish for months before I had it pretty good for FTA. Move a little here. Move a little there :mozilla_laughing:

I offer the suggestion of purchasing a motorized system minus the receiver since you have one already. What will this do? You can run all your or most all your FTA Ku from the small dish and allow the receiver to do the switching. I have the same issue with the C band side of life with this receiver. I currently have 2 of the Platinum units.

I run an 8' mesh with both LNB's along with 76cm dishes. One with the Invacom circular/linear LNB and another 76cm dish with just a Ku LNB. I also use the Motorola receiver to control polarity for the C band side of FTA BUT I have found that what is a good setting for polarity for the 4DTV receiver may NOT be a good setting for the FTA. So again a little tweaking to find a happy medium. Also you can ignore that H / V setting listed for FTA C band with what you are doing.

This goes back to polarity and what works here does not work there. What shows up as a V TP may actually be best viewed in H mode on your dish. If you reverse polarity on your big dish to compensate for this you now have lost your 4DTV channel. Leave the polarity setting the same and simple accept it is a V TP that prefers the H side of life. :mozilla_cool:

Same applies in reverse. No idea about the slots. Have had the same question running through my mind about it since I seen them. Have a great day

Steve

The two slots on the right are not available on the PLatinum NA. On;y the CI slot is available for up to 2 CI CAMs.

CAMs and CI

So where do I get the CI CAMs? I'd like to learn more about them.

Do a search on google to find a CAM supplier. We don't sell it.
