How to set or reset reference point on SG HH motor

Hi all,

I recently purchased a satellite system which includes FortecStar Lifetime Ultra receiver, SG2100 76cm Winegard dish, and single LNBF.

Everything seems to be OK except when I use USALS to locate a satellite position, the reference point always changes to east 20 degrees. Even if I manually switch it to 0, the receiver will turn it to east 20 degrees as soon as I try to program a satellite. How can I set the reference point so that the receiver remembers the correct position?

Any help will greatly appreciated.

Jeffrey

The proceedure for re-setting the sg-2100 is in the user manual (hardware reset). Do you have the manual? If not, post back and I'll help you through it.
After you have set the sg-2100 to 0 degrees you need to go into the receiver setup, usually under diseqc 1.2 and store the reference position. I don't have the ultra so can't tell you the steps for that receiver, maybe someone else can help with that.

what is the difference between usals and disq eq?

btw, i have the same problem. i can't figure out how to tell the receiver that i have set the dish at "0."

it always moves to "ref" and i am sitting there thinking... well, why are you moving the dish? i just set it at the 0 and that should be my ref?

HH motor control

Thanks for your replies.

If I use diseqc 1.2, the receiver seems to control the motor OK, but trying to move the dish east and west blindly is very time consuming. The goto X function seems to be a good idea, but somehow the ref point always changes from 0 to something else. As a result, I can't tune in and focus on a satellite accurately.

A software upgrade might fix your floating reference position. Have you upgraded the receiver since you bought it? Is there an upgrade on the fortecstar site for your receiver? I had a similar problem with an earlier model Fortecstar receiver which a software upgrade fixed.
