For bobkat or any other sat guru

Hi finally i think i installed my dish successfuly, well i got a signal of about 86 and the quality in the high eighties and low nineties for telestart 5, now i am facing a new problem, when i scan other satellites, like pas9 it only detects a few channels, for example cubavision did not even detected it when the receiver scaned pas9 for new channels, i had to put the transponder information manually and that was the only way i could get a green meter for the signal, but still i can not get other channels in that satellite even adjusting the tp frequency. For other satellites i cant even get one channel, like for solidaridad2, no channels detected, am i doing something wrong or a lot of the other satellites are out of my reach? thanks for the help and support.

OK; lots of satellites will be "out of reach" - in reality that means you need a dish bigger in diameter than 30" or 36" that you have now. PAS9 for example has lots of free channels (DVB) but they are on C-Band, so a big dish is needed. Even the KU band where FTA channels are available will sometimes require a 1.0 or even 1.2 meter dish.

The other thing is that not all channels are "free" - to further complicate the issue they switch between free and encrypted at odd hours during the day and night.

Check out this website - its shows all the satellites and what channels you can get for free and their various parameters (frequency, SR, polarity, etc.) www.lyngsat.com

Happy DXing
