The answer depend on what you want to do.

The problem with putting a FTA on an existing BUD system is that the technologies are different. The most inexpensive way to do this is just slave the Fortec to your present system. Use the analog IRD/positioner to point the dish and adjust the polarity. Put the FTA receiver on the loop-out (950MHz) of the analog receiver and you're done.

If you don't have a 950MHz out on your analog receiver, get a satellite signal splitter with a power-pass and power-block port. Put the BUD on the power-pass leg and the FTA on the power-block leg. Tune the satellite and the desire polarity on the BUD and scan/watch on the FTA.

Get the Perfect Vision PV 23-402 splitter from Sadoun for this option.

If you want to dedicate your BUD to FTA, you'll need to get 2 more pieces of hardware. First you'll need to a new feed/amp. There are C-band feeds that are made for the 13/18 V polarity switching that your Lifetime Ultra needs. Replace the old feed and amp on your BUD with this new one. Next, since your BUD doesn't support Diseqc signals to move the dish, you'll need to get a VBox or VBoxII. Basically the Vbox is a standalone antenna mover that you program your satellites into. They can take the Diseqc 1.2 signals from the Lifetime and move the BUD to the desired satellite.

Sadoun has the C-band feed you need for $29.

I didn't find a VBox on their site, but there are other places you can find those.

Good luck!

I wish I still had my BUD system.

One thing if you are using the loop out of the analog receiver.

Be sure when you are setting up your Lifetime satellites, be sure to set the option to turn off LNB power. This will keep you from feeding voltage from the Lifetime to the analog receiver. To be extra safe, put a DC power block on the line between the two receivers. I'm pretty sure you can find these at Radio Shack and certainly elsewhere.

If you get the splitter that passes DC on one leg and blocks the other then the answer is no. Put the power-pass leg on the analog box and the blocked leg on the FTA box. If you are trying to use a standard splitter, then get the DC block and put it on the FTA side.

Good luck!
