Scrambled or Bad Channel

About three weeks ago I replaced a Manhattan 1000 receiver with a Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra purchased from Sadoun. Since then I have been plagued with a problrm of "Scrambled or Bad Channel messages.I setup my VCR TO Record a program last night only to get the scrambled message. When it is displaying that message I can hear the audio fine. Hitting SIG on the remote gave me: Level 85, QUALITY 90-99%.Receiving off of AMC4 - THe 3ABN Channel.Never had this problem with my previous receiver.Might the Fortec be defective?

Check your LNBF settings. Also, your dish might be off alignment, thus creating w weak signal quality. Look at the Quality bar to verify.

I'm curious. If you do a channel up followed by channel down, bringing you back to the same channel, does the reception come back???
If so, I've seen the same symptom, and it must be a quirk of the Ultra. Your signal/quality levels seem very good, so I can't imagine that signal is your problem. I also use a regular Lifetime receiver, ie not the Ultra, and I don't remember seeing that symptom with the regular lifetime, and also don't see it with my other FTA receivers. However with the Ultra, if I leave the unit on a signal for long periods of time, often when I return it is doing what you describe. It's almost like it gets locked up when it gets some bad data and can't recover, whereas other receivers are capable of recovering. Hopefully this might be addressed in future software upgrades?

My Ultra does the same thing once in a while.
Channel up/down clears it up.

Lots of receivers do this. Can't be brand specific but I have seen this problem before.
